Getting a url listed

Please advise:
I had recently submitted a request to have my url (www.touringforlove.com) added in to the ‘http://dmoz.com/Recreation/Travel/Specialty_Travel/Singles/’ Directory.
I went back into the directory and realized it does not appear to have an active editor.
I was wondering if this might have a negative effect on getting my URL listed. Any infomation is appreciated.
Thanks
Charlie

A listed editor may just have ceased editing yesterday. So it is not a guarantee for getting listed fast. On the other hand, there are thousands of categories without a listed editor which are very well maintained by editors of parent categories. So the fact that no editor is listed really doesn't give you a clue about how long it's going to be until your site will be reviewed.

Every category has numerous editors. Editors listed in the parent categories have the ability to edit in any subcategory. Additionally, there are hundreds of editors who have the ability to edit throughout the directory in any category.

It's an unfortunae illusion. I edit within http://dmoz.com/Recreation/Travel/Specialty_Travel/ [don't get your hopes up - I don't do your area :( ]

I'm listed for one category there but the categories underneath don't have editors listed - yet I edit those too. Except there is a category there that looks like it's mine, but I don't have access to edit it. Confusing - yes?

Ob the other hand the same situation may exist somewhere else where I have access to edit the sub-categories, and do not do so, either because I have no interest, or I don't feel I have the knowledge required, or because there are too many sites to work on, and I don't want to overextend myself.

Then there are categories out there, [one of which was mentioned in Resource-Zone recently] that show no editors - where in fact I am the editor, it just does not show this yet.

Bottom line - always ignore the editor name when making submissions, you can't outguess what is really happening.

Follow up question.
If I sumitted my add url request thru google/odp would that effect the time it gets review. And, could you give me the status of the submission or do I need to go to the status submission thread?

Submitting to the Google directory is exactly the same as submitting to us. In fact, the submission link there brings up the "suggest url" script on our server. Submissions to the Google search engine won't reach us at all.

We'd really rather have status requests in the status request forum, and formatted exactly as described in the posting guidelines for that forum. That makes it a lot easier for us to research them and provide timely, accurate answers.

Charlie,

Submitting a site through other search engines won't get the site listed at ODP.

In fact resubmitting the site would be a waste of everyone's time. Submission status was given and the site won't be listed.

Sorry, but if the horse is dead, get off! Beating it won't help..
