Getting Listed

I have been attempting to list my site for several years now. The site is legitimate and is a retail shopping site for incense, bath salts and other related items. I have followed all the guide lines and can not understand why it is taking so long. I understand DMOZ is volunteer but waiting years seems a little long. :icon_ques

You might have misunderstood our objectives and how we operate here. ODP is a volunteer organisation building a directory as a hobby. Editors edit where they wish, when they wish and as much as they wish within the constraints of their permissions. We have no schedules or systems to force people to do work that they don't volunteer to do. ODP is not primarily a free listing service for website owners and it does not attempt to process their listing suggestions within the time scales desired by them.

Unfortunately, you've chosen a subject which is a favorite target for frauds of all kinds: shrouded affiliates, anonymous order-takers for pseudonymous (or nonexistant) drop-shipping order-fulfillers.

The frauds prey on this target partly because there _are_ genuine micro-businesses that mix and ship their own products (I know: friend's family has such a business), so it's especially hard to tell the difference between the fright-mask sites and the small-business (or even medium-business) sites.

The result--site review is difficult (so hard to tell the difference) and unproductive (so many reviews end up in no listing, wasting the editors' time).

The reality is, editors prefer to work where reviews are enjoyable and productive.

So, yes, you can expect a long wait. Blame it _all_ on the affiliate spammers.

My site has been up for 9 years and we are part of the manufacturing of the product so I am confused by the idea of fraud. Our address is a legitimate business address and easily verified.

No one is saying yours is a fraud, just that there are many frauds in the topic, making reviewing sites more time intensive than in many other categories.
