Do DMOZ editors not like sites with google ads as much? I guess what I'm asking is if I have a unique site with good content and have google ads on the site will I not get listed because of the google ads? What about affiliate program ads? I don't have any of those but I'm wondering.

What about length of site being live? Do DMOZ editors not like newer sites? Does a site have to have a google pagerank before a DMOZ editor will list it?

I'd love to be listed in DMOZ just like everyone else and want to play by the rules like most everyone else - I just want to understand a bit better what is good and what isn't.

Thanks in advance for any help and input you may have on these topics.

Most of your questions would be answered by reading our guidelines.

1. We're all about unique content.
2. We don't care about the age of a site (except to the extent that it affects #1).
3. We don't care about a site's PageRank.
4. There are lots of sites that use Google ads that are listed. There are lots of sites that use Google ads that aren't listed. What can you conclude?

If the first thing you think about is the ads, then you can pretty well bet the site won't be listable.

If they are the last thing you add, then the site can conceivably be listable.

Help!

Hello! I don't know what to do anymore to have my website (www.bacbloom.com) listed on search engines and web directories... I did everything on my power to get listed and nothing... my boss may think I don't work :-(

I went to selfpromotion.com and look my results:

URL being searched for : www.bacbloom.com
Key 1 : bethesda adult communities
Key 2 : senior active living
Key 3 : retirement housing

Permuted Search Request 1 : "bethesda adult communities" "senior active living" "retirement housing "
AltaVista (Simple Query) : No hits on first 6 pages.
AllTheWeb (Simple Query) : Could not perform (target site unresponsive).

What else can I do? Please...
Luciana.

There is absolutely nothing else you can do to get listed in DMOZ, assuming that you have made an appropriate submission.

As far as the other search engines go, you will have to find a idfferent forum, one that concerns itself wiht things such as search engiens, keywords, and the like. Discussions of those subjects are off-topic for this forum except for the occasional need for us to explain, yet again, that they are not relevant to DMOZ listings.

And ODP would not list that URL anyway - it redirects, and we would list the actual URL of the site.

Redirects of this kind are not a good idea for you.

Not to mention you (bacbloom.com) have two other mirror sites already listed in two other categories.

Please don't submit any more of your mirrors or redirects, it could prove to be a detriment to the site already listed.

As to your finding it in Google, increasingly they don't like redirects and mirrors either.
