Although our website is South Africa's biggest in parenting, multiple attempts to list on DMOZ have been unsuccessful.
I do understand that the forum is not the place to request a status on a listing, just wanted to bring to your attention that a market leader in its category is unable to get a listing up for over 2 years.

Not sure what, if anything, can be done about it.

Thank you.

Well let's see.
First of all. It is impossible to attempt to list a website on DMOZ. The only thing you can do is suggest a website. Suggest means "I found a website I think is interesting for other DMOZ users. Maybe you do agree."
Secondly. When suggesting a website you acknowledge to have read the guidelines. These guidelines request you to suggest a website only ONCE to the ONE best category.
And lastly. We do not care if a website / company is a maarketleader. When evaluating a website we only look at the content that can be found on the website.

Well I have been in much the same boat as the person above I have tried to suggest my site to DMOZ and I have followed every suggestion in the book including even having so called professionals over the years try to pick the perfect category and copy and no luck. I just recently tried again to suggest my site it has been well over 6 months since the last one I will hope I get lucky this time. Is there anything I can do to help this along like posting a DMOZ Banner on my website :) If there is a realistic answer PM me

It's not a lottery. Assuming your website is listable, it's a resource issue. You'll just have to wait for some volunteer to process your listing suggestion.

I'm getting the message that you've suggested your website several times. Stop it because it increases our volunteers' workload, thus contributing to a process slow down for everybody, and you risk being branded a spammer.
