Hi there,

I think I submitted my site <url removed> to the directory a year ago but can't actually remember because it's been so long and I haven't heard anything - is there a way of finding out if I have submitted already because if I haven't I want to do so soon!

Thanks in advance for your help.

Best Regards,

Lisa

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the quick reply and positive attitude - this whole web site listing stuff feels so unrewarding given all the time I've spent on it so I need a bit of luck and help!

Happy to re-submit but don't want to waste more time if it turns out that the site isn't right for inclusion in the directory. I read the guidlines last year and think it complies but without someone telling me the site's been rejected I just don't know! :( Any advice on it otherwise I might just give up.

Thanks again

You are not wasting an editors time if you submit one more time a year later :) You are wasting an editors time if you resubmit over and over again to the same or multiple categories ;) So should be no worry there.

Since the ODP never guaranteed any sites inclusion, nor a time frame for a review and the prevailing advice from those in the the know is "Suggest and forget" when it comes to dmoz, you cannot possibly be waisting your own time either. It only takes a few minutes to read the guidelines, find a suitable category and write a description afterall. That is unless you are counting on a dmoz listing as being a magic bullet that rings your checking account instantly, so you start obsessing about getting a listing and forget to manage your site for your customers. Then you are not only waisting your time, but also extremely mis-guided. :p

Bottom line: You have suggested your site (twice it would seem) and there is nothing more that needs to be done. You have done all you can to help an editor find it. There is no way to predict how long it will be until an interested editor finds the suggestion and there is no way to speed the process along any more than you already have. You did good. Now just concentrate on your site-adding content and usefulness for your customers and you may just find you do really well on your own :)

Hope that helps.

Yeah, remember that an ODP listing is very nice but you should never hold your breath for one.
