I am currently working on a forum which is free from user and morderator abuse.

i would like to ask what are the possible considerations that you will use in choosing a moderator.
I understand that this site accepts moderator applications for those who would want to. But in terms of the dmoz's integrity, how would you consider that one is worthy of your trust and that you are sure that this person will be able to maintain the levels of your policies and terms of agreement?

please send in some help. we will greatly appreciate any form of suggestions or advice. thanks:p

A terminology point here -- there are no moderators at dmoz.org, just editors. Indeed, anybody can apply to become an editor, and editor applications are reviewed by meta editors who decide whether to accept or reject the application. Reviewing application is something you learn, and get better at as you get more experienced. You'll understand, surely, that we can't post any details of the review process as seen from the inside, though ;)

The qualities we look for are no secret: a genuine interest in editing, a reasonable grasp of the language of the category applied for, and a sense of integrity. Oh, and the ability to read and understand the application form; if the applicant can't do that they won't be able to follow the editing guidelines anyway. Not particularly harsh requirements, I'd say. {moz}

There is certainly some confusion over terminology, because I assumed bryan5o was asking about moderators on this forum (RZ) so that he had more information to help him in selecting them for his own forum. :eek:

Of course in that case the thread would be outside the scope of Resource Zone, so I hope nea's interpretation is the correct one. ;)

I wasn't sure either, mak, but since this site (RZ) doesn't accept moderator applications, I opted for the other interpretation ;)

hey nea!

if this site doesnt accept applications for moderators, then how come you got your title of being a moderator? that's shown under your user name.

The moderators at the resource-zone are meta editors at dmoz.org.

Also, if you want a forum without rule violations yourself, you should take care not to violate the rules on other forums. That usually includes not calling other posters rude names or posting about topics that are not on-topic for the forum. Something to think about :)
