This is my first post here and must say all the volunteers at for ODP do a great job. I'm amazed by how huge of an impact all of you make. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! :)

Now on to my question. I've tried the last couple of months to move my site from >Sports > Baseball > Major League > Teams > Atlanta Braves > Fan Pages
to >Sports > Baseball > Major League > Teams > Atlanta Braves .

Website: http://www.bravesnews.com

Originally a couple of years ago it was just at the Atlanta Braves directory but for some reason it moved. So about 6 months ago I began to submit requests to 'update an existing site' instead of "submitting a site" since I thought thats what I needed to do. However I notice its still in the same category. I also noticed a few addresses that are dead and a couple that are now duplicates and see that there is no editor currently there. I attempted to become an editor like a month ago for the Braves category but was rejected so I figured it probly had to do since I ran a site that would be in the cat. Which I would understand.

Any help anyone could give me with changing the categories I would greatly appreciate :)

All you can do is submit an update request from the category it's currently listed in. If an editor agrees with your request, they'll move it up a level.

I've done that several times over the past 6 months though with no help whatsoever. No real reason to think anyone is even working the category since the category has broken links and duplicate links.

The site used to have 'fan' as part of the name is reason I think it was placed there.

By the way, it wasn't accidental that it ended up in the Fan Pages category since you yourself called your site a fan page when it was first added.

Well it had FAN as part of the name although it didn't necessarily mean it was a fan page. Also it wasn't originally in the "fan pages" section. It was originally in just the Atlanta Braves section. Sorry if I caused any confusion with the previous comment about 'fan'.

You didn't cause any confusion (I hadn't even seen your post). I looked at an archive of the site and you were calling it an Atlanta Braves Fan Site (in addition to the "fan" in the site name) yourself back when it was moved to the Fan Pages category.

In any case, using the update request is the way to get that rereviewed. 6 months is not a long time. Feel free to request a status update on that move request in the Submission Status forum here (1 full month after the last time you resubmitted the update).

For the dead links you found in the category, you can report them in the "Report Broken Links Here" thread over in the Abuse forum.

Thanks!

This is not an issue. Editors can edit in categories with which they have listable sites. If their sites are listable in that category, it doesn't matter who adds them (since many editors can edit anywhere in the directory) so line as they meet the listing guidelines. As long as the editor is objectively reviewing and adding all listable sites along with their own listable sites there is not a problem.

I do not review, see, nor know how the process works for editor application review so take the following completely as just my opinion. In your rejection letter for your application there should've been a list of the most common reasons for rejection. In my experience, if something other than the most common is the cause of the rejection there often is a note from the reviewing meta explaining it. Chances are that if you didn't get a personal note then one of the common ones apply. Carefully read through them and you will probably see why yours was rejected. Again, having a site that may or may not be listable in the category isn't an issue.

Hope that helps.

Ok cool. I went ahead and resubmitted and tried to be as detailed as possible. Listing sites i'm with and all that other stuff. HOpefully I'll finally be accepted :)

The rejection letter didn't contain any notes so I assume I didn't go into detail enough with the answers or something.

Anyways I went into plenty of details this time so hopefully someone will like it.
