I run a small NONE registered charitty called The NAtional Ferreters Register <url removed>. I have submitted my site 4 times over the last 12 months. Having no success I looked through the rest of the sites with my section Top: Recreation: Outdoors: Hunting: Ferreting (17) and found that some links were brocken some sites had nothing on them and some sites were truly horrible and were last updated pre war (joke). So I thought I would apply to be editor this way I could add my site and sort out the rest making dmoz a little more accurate I was rejected. can anybody advise me on what to do I belive in odp project and feel that that a man managed system is far better than using WEB crawlers etc. I do want my sitye listed HELP

If youd really like to join our team and help us out, all I can suggest is to reapply to become an editor. Unfortunately with this post it appears your main goal however is not only helping us out, but getting your site listed in the directory as well. Your site submission isnt treated any different than anyone else's and goes through a waiting process like everyone else's submissions. As for the sites in the category you refer to as dead links, dmoz has a method for removing sites that no longer exist and if they havent been removed as of yet, they will be removed in the near future most likely. Thank you for being interested in how we operate and wanting to help out. I would suggest applying again if you really want to be an editor except try another category that only has a few sites and needs to be developed more.

There is some advice about applying to be an editor here: http://www.resource-zone.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1289

If you find dead, hijacked, horrendously outdated or otherwise useless sites in a category you can report them here: http://www.resource-zone.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=5453

Also, you say you've suggested your site for review four times over the last year -- please stop suggesting it, as it is most likely waiting for review (that it isn't listed doesn't necessarily mean it's been rejected, far more likely is that it hasn't been reviewed yet.) Suggesting it again doesn't speed up the review process, on the contrary it's likely to make it take longer. Thanks. {moz}
