Helping an editor

Some time ago I wrote in "Becoming Editor" category about how to get reinstated in a category where I was (unfairly) kicked out. However, I just noticed that the category now has a new editor who has made some cleaning and updating there. Hence, I'm quite ok with the current editor situation.

The current editor seems to have several categories to edit and is probably an experienced one as far as ODP is concerner. And a fast one, too -- I got my new site listed in less than 24 hours. However, it seems that he/she is not very familiar with the region in question (probably only been there as a tourist). Hence it seems that he/she does not have a thorough knowledge about all the relevant sites that exist -- especially when non-tourism related sites are concerned. There are probably tens of sites that should be included in the category but apparently the editor is not aware of them. Also, some @links to other categories would enhance integrity and probably at least one new sub-category should be created.

Hence, what I am asking is that would it be appreciated if I submitted those sites I know to the relevant sub-categories? Or would someone find that as spamming? Is this kind of help appreciated? And how would an editor find if a kicked out editor submits sites and proposes new @links and category changes?

Mostly, we really don't care where good submittals come from. If there are good sites, conforming to the guidelines, then submit freely. If more than 50% of your suggestions are good ones, you're beating the average, and it will probably be appreciated.

I personally think we need LOTS more @links, so I'm in favor of suggesting them also. Getting @links right is more complex than it looks, so (just as with sites) local editors and more experienced editors may modify or even reject suggestions.

Bear in mind that the "submit a URL" isn't for webmasters! It's not a "Submit YOUR website". It is "suggest A website which is relevant for this category." And anyone is encouraged to use it for any relevant site.

Thanks. Maybe I should send that editor a message before I start sending submissions.

And another thing: I tried to find some personal homepages from the Caribbean but all the @links at category
http://dmoz.org/Society/People/Personal_Homepages/By_Region/Caribbean/ are dead. I checked Aruba and Jamaica more carefully and it seems the problem is @links pointing to "Personal_Homepages/" while actual categories are named "Personal_Pages/" (which, as far as I know, is the one that should be used).

Someone here is probably able to correct the links.

Thanks, theseeker. Fast work.

Hutcheson: that's what I thought too. But if it is meant for everybody to submit any relevant sites, why is it said in the end of Submission Agreement that "I have read and understand the submissions guidelines, and I'm ready to submit my site"? No, it's not MY site that I'm submitting.

Anyway, I sent a message to the editor in that category and already started submitting some sites.

"my" site == "the site I [created/promote/know about because I visted the business/FOUND on Google/whatever] and am now ready to bring to the attention to the ODP".
