How Can I Help?

I have emailed staff@dmoz.org, but because of the notoriously low amount of replies received from that, I will post it here also:

I have applied to be an editor, failed, applied again, and am awaiting a decision.

I have attempted to be helpful to members on the forums, and was asked (politely) to stop by a meta, because I was hurting more than helping.

So, my question is:

How can I help? I don't see many options for me at the moment, and hope you see some, as I am at a loss as to what I can do to improve or help Dmoz.

Can anyone suggest anything?

I am willing to do anything but financially contribute. That is something, because of my age, I am not capable of doing.

Anything else: If it's in my power, I will attempt it.

Thanks,
~Polly

Some people help by finding bad links (nonworking, hijacked, etc) in the directory - then posting about it in the Quality Control thread.

Ahh... That, I can do.

I'll only do the non-working ones, as the editor's judgement has been proven better than my own. :D

Thanks.

I'm not sure why you did that instead of just asking here as you just did?

I have applied to be an editor, failed, applied again, and am awaiting a decision.
Being rejected once is nothing. Many editors are rejected several times before finally being accepted.

The meta editor who asked you to stop posting, I believe, specifically asked you to stop posting advice in the Becoming an Editor forum (where it is best that posts be answered by meta editors).

No one is asked, expected, or even truly able to financially contribute to the ODP. We don't accept donations. We definitely don't take "payment for services". So, you're in good company, with everyone else who can't contribute financially. :D
