How Can I tell If I'm Listed

Hi, First off this is a great idea. Hats off to dmoz!!! I use to be listed in dmoz but I haven't been able to find my site anymore. Is there a way to find out what I might have done wrong if that is why it isn't listed anymore. I never claimed to be the best webmaster around but my visitors do like the ease of my site. It would be nice to know what I might of done so that I don't do it in the future. If I submitted my site not knowing it was already listed would that be a no no. Thanks for any feedback you can give.

Do a search on your domain name.
The search at ODP can be quirky at times so I would check it a few times to make sure you're not listed.

I can't say for sure about the history of your site with the ODP, but looking at your site I can see that the main links - the ones for the games - are so-called affiliate links. The ODP has a policy not to list sites whose contents are affiliate links. This might well be the reason why your site might not get listed.

alucard is exactly right. At the moment, your site is not the type of site we will accept into the directory, and is not currently listed for that reason.

Basically you need unique content that is your own, and not for-profit affiliate links to other site's content to be included in ODP.

So, your solutions are to either beef up your content and consider removing some, or all, of the affiliate links. (You can keep some affiliates, but they can't be the dominate content, banner ads for revenue for example are completely fine unless that is all there is on the site. /images/icons/wink.gif ). Or you can keep your site as-is, but be satisfied with only being listed in spidered search engines, and not this directory.

I believe for long-term success the “real” secret that so many people miss is “content…content… content”. There is no substitution that I am aware of. Keep adding relevant content and you cannot go wrong. /images/icons/smile.gif

Darn, I can't remember how long it takes for the dmoz search engine index to be updated. Anyone else know?

Too long /images/icons/smile.gif. Normally it updates about once a week, though it depends how busy staff are.

Hi. I'm new here but if I may make a suggestion to gameboy.
I would look for some java script games you can find some really cool ones on the web and make some pages of those and run your links out to them. That gives your site content.{content gooood} then off those pages you can run a banner/text add to your sponsor. {the other game sites}
And under the banner add you could put "for more great games try here" then the surfer knows he is going to another site.
