How can I tell if my site is being reviewed?

How can I check to see if my site is pending review? I think that I submitted my site for review but sadly, I must admit that I am not sure. It was a very confusing process (mainly due to the categorizations). I am not a dope. I made it through 19 years of school and passed a very difficult bar exam, yet I found the process so confusing that I am not sure if I actually submitted my site. I did not received any type of confirmation that the site was submitted. Doing a search for it <url removed> comes back with nothing, but I am afraid that if I "resubmit" it that I will cause a denial. I read postings by people waiting years for inclusion. Is there some way to simply learn if a site is pending review? I know that I applied to be an editor. I am sure of this because I received a response within a day or two saying thanks, but no thanks. No reasoning, no explanation, but at least a reply. Please help.

One extra listing suggestion won't cause you to be branded a spammer.

When you've suggested your website, the final screen says words to the effect of 'Thank you for suggesting your website". That's the confirmation.

We don't attempt to evaluate listing suggestions within specific timescales. All edityors are volunteers and they work when and as much as they wish within their permissions.

Thanks

Jim:
Thanks for the reply. Is it too much to ask where to best situate my site? I am a lawyer and I practice in 3 areas of law. 1) Criminal Defense which I beleive is not a category to post into but just for information, 2) Personal Injury and 3) Residential Real Estate Conveyances. The advice says if you have 2 areas, list them both ut if you have several, just pick the one you do the most work in. I do equal work in three areas, but again there are not exact specific areas to apply into. Any advice?

Help...

I have as well submitted my url to ODP and also wonder about status. Are you informed by email when you have been added??? This all seems a bit overwhelming?

No. We do not provide status checks. Bended knees, drooling, rolling on the floor, and public flatulence have all been attempted before, and we have no plans to start giving such checks in the future.

No. And no need. Because:

(1) The whole world is informed: the site is in the directory.
(2) The ODP review process isn't designed around KNOWING the webmaster's e-mail address. (We don't assume the webmaster is the site suggester; in fact, we don't even assume the site has ever been suggested.)
(3) The ODP processes are geared around helping the directory: from that perspective, there's nothing helpful you could do after the site is listed but not before.
(4) Even from the perspective of the site suggestor, notification if of no practical use. In fact, if you're waiting on ODP notification--just don't. Instead, go ahead and implement your plans now.

Site Submission

Is it a problem to ask an editor to tell me if my site has been reviewed yet or not? I submitted my site, <url removed> about 3 months ago and I have checked periodicly to see if it is listed, which it is not as of today.

In searching the web for info on how to check status, I read that the only way to find out is through this forum and from an editor. Therefore I am hoping that the information that I got it correct and that I am not breaking any DMOZ guidelines by asking. More importantly, I am hoping to get an answer :)

So the short version is, will one of you kind editors please tell me if my site submission <url removed> has been looked at yet?

Thanks in advance.

Site submission anxiety :)

Thanks for the response. I read the FAQs you pointed to and as much as it frustrates me, I do understand your policy and reasoning. In fact, I guess its really the integrity of your position that gives DMOZ its clout. So keep it up, but don't forget us (me). Thanks :)

I understand that the green box is a possitive reputation symbol. Can someone please tell me what it means to be "on a distinguished road" as it indicates if I place the curser over the box. It sounds good...

I don´t think it means anything. We all have the same indication.
As far as I know the reputation system on this forum has been disabled.
