The ODP really isn't about getting good search results. And nothing will need "fixing", unless it interferes with actual ODP activity or goals.
Public feedback might possibly be of use in some areas of the directory, so it would be nice to have that back. Site suggestions are (of course) the lowest priority of all the feedback functions. And some editor functions aren't yet restored.
Which all boils down to "we don't really know" (same as the announcement says) and "we aren't holding our breath" (partly because we can work effectively on many things).
Remember, whether or not a site is suggested, we can't predict when it will be reviewed. So a successful plan to try to get good search results will NEVER DEPEND on the ODP. If yours does, then that's a problem you can start fixing immediately.
