How can you assure a site will be reviewed?

Hi,

I've been trying for quite a loooong time to have a website included (more then a year, I would say), which is still under review.
The site follows all DMOZ guidelines, is a perfect match for the category, and no editor in this forum has ever seen any problem with it. The category is quite small and has not had any inclusion for months (years?).

My question is: how can I know that my site will ever be visited?
After all that time, I am inclined to think that the editor is someone in the business that does not want more sites included.

Yes, I know, it's run for volunteers (thank you all, by the way), with no warranty of time or even inclusion. But I think you could have mechanisms to avoid these situations, don't you?...

You can't.
Every suggested site will be visited and reviewed somewhere in the future. How long you have to wait before this point of time in the future will be reached nobody knows.

I have no proof (that's why I said "I am inclined to think"!), but category http://dmoz.org/Society/Relationships/Weddings/Destination_Weddings/Europe/ has 19 entries, 12 of them referring to Italy, 6 pages not having its own domain (some with really poor contents, may I add).

The only one referring to France (which has a similar market to Italy!) is not even about weddings, it is a chateau (castle) you can rent if you want to make a wedding.
At least you will have to admit that many things are weird in one single small category.

I am trying to get www.golden-star-events.com included. I resubmitted last August and yestrday I was told it is still under review. Before Augst I had submitted it, but can't remember when (maybe 1 year or so).

Do you agree there may be abuse, or maybe am I loosing objectivity?
Thank you in advance!

Pvgool, what you say is quite obvious, but I did not say it was an abuse because the domain I said was not included.
I gave different reasons, and I can give more:

- Extremely low (if any) number of new entries
- Many questionnable entries (I will now give you more detail)
- One person owns two sites in the same category (look the whois details for italy-weddings.com and venice-weddings.com). One of these, italy-weddings.com, has nothing to do with destination weddings in Europe (just facts about weddings in Italy)...
- One site [gretna-green-wedding-services.co.uk] has not a single reference to "destination weddings", it's just a wedding organizer.
- The rental of a Chateau I doubt it can be considered a "destination wedding" service.
- There is no representation of other important countries for destination Weddings like France or Spain.

Frankly, I think that I have given clear reasons for at least being suspicious.

I have included the other details because Jimnoble told me he may be able to give me more details if he had more information. I would be very pleased if he (or anyone else) did!

As I wrote the last message (or maybe as a result), a new subcategory "Italy" has been created. Thank you.

As suggested by jimnoble, I have reported the abuse to report-abuse.dmoz.org.

Let's see if other weird things get fixed too, and eventually golden-star-events.com is included.

I think what you're seeing is more neglect than anything else (not everyone likes to edit wedding categories, which contain a lot of spam) but you've submitted your abuse report and a meta editor will look into the allegations. No point dealing with it in this thread as well so I'm going to close it.
