OK, Web Guy, it really is quite easy. At the top of this discussion thread is a sticky posting called READ BEFORE POSTING. It contains everything you need to know.

Continue to use this thread and follow the instructions (all of them!) and we'll get along just fine.

We do get seriously snippy when the rules aren't followed.

Please let me know the status of http://www.nebs.ca

My mistake. I'm a bit of a tool.
The date was approximately: April 3. 2005
My Site: http://www.nebs.ca/NASApp/canEcat/index.jsp
The dmoz.org category:http://dmoz.org/Shopping/OfficeProducts/Supplies/StationeryandPaper

The U.S site nebs.com is different then my Canada site. We only deal in Canada and they only deal in the U.S. We have a different product selection and different product codes. I don't know if any of that matters to you, but anyway. They are listed in you directory however we are not and would really like to be.

Thanks for your help. I will read the rules before I post next time.

Can you please check the status for www.nebs.ca

Hi,
Sorry about that.

My Site: http://www.nebs.ca/NASApp/canEcat/index.jsp
http://dmoz.org/Business/Publishing_and_Printing/Printing/Products/Forms/

This is the category we would like to be placed in. Our U.S counter parts are in this category and we would also like to be here if possible. I'm not sure that this is the category I submitted our site to, but I fear that if I keep on submitting my site it will never appear in your listings. I don't want to break any rules. Can you please check and see if I have done everything correctly. As I previously mentioned, we are completely separate from our U.S counter parts, with different content related to Canada and Canadians as well as different products and product codes that are only offered in Canada. Please consider this when reviewing my submition.
Thank you for your patience. I hope I am getting a handly on your operations.

In that category, what would be appropriate would be a single doorway page, with links to the "U.S." and "Canadian" catalogs. The way you're proposing will look like abuse to our customers, your competitors, and our editors.

Can you please check the status for www.nebs.ca

Hi,
We have tried to sort this out with the U.S division of our company in the past for marketing and customer friendliness reasons. However they do not see it our way and feel it would not be to there benefit. By not including our Canadian site you will be excluding Canadians from shopping at our company. The sites are run by different people, nebs.com is run by our Boston Company and our nebs.ca is run here in Midland On.
Please help us. We understand the importance of being listed in your directory and would really value being placed in one of your categories, preferably not the "exclude category".
Is there another way we can approach this issue to come up with a solution that is fair for both the U.S team as well as us in Canada?
Thanks for anything you can do.

No. Do not tell us that. We absolutely will not accept that responsibility.

We do not control how you promote your site, nor what services you offer there, nor who takes advantage of those services.

We build a directory of sites that fit certain criteria.

The question is not who may or may not shop at your site. That is your business. The question is, by our guidelines what should editors do with this site.

Do not go there.

I am so sorry

Hello hutcheson,
I am truly sorry, that was not my intention. Please don't take what I wrought the wrong way. I am not attacking you or anyone for that matter. It's not in my nature. I simple am looking for help to get listed in your directory. Our U.S site is in there and I hoped we could also get listed. If I have offended you please accept my apology. I am only looking for suggestions on how someone in my situation can be placed in your listings. Would I be better off selecting a different category? Please let me know if there are any alternative methods I can use so my site may be considered.

Once again sorry about the previous comments.

There is a Canada-specific Shopping category, http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/Canada/Business_and_Economy/Shopping/ . It is possible that the site might be appropriate there.

It is also possible that the site might be considered "related" to the American site (and then our attitude is: if you all can't be bothered to link to your own site, why would anyone else want to?)

Our approach is not "how can this site be listed?" It's "should this site be listed here? and if not, is it worth trying to find another place?"

You are, naturally enough, jumping to conclusions on the second part. I won't prejudge that issue.
