I want to submit my site to a particular category, but it doesn't exist.

How do I suggest a particular category?

Thank you!

Suggest to the parent category. If we need the subcategory, we'll create it.

Thank you!

What is the best way to submit a suggestion? Should I email the editor if there is one?

No. If you really think the site belongs in a new subcategory "Foo", then place [or subcategory Foo] in brackets, like that, after the end of your description.

It would be even stronger if you can suggest several websites that would go in the new category, not just your one.

Thanks!

I would be interested in suggesting a new sub-category. I would be suggesting 5-10 different sites (one of which is mine).

I see that the category within which the new sub-category would fit has not been edited for some time.

The DMOZ editor profile page provides contact email addresses. Is it appropriate to notify the editor(s) of a category that a sub-category and X number of sites have been suggested, especially where no editing appears to have been done for a number of months?

Also, can you clarify if the edit date which appears on a DMOZ category is the date of last editing work (e.g. sites reviewed but possibly none added), or the date of last additions/changes?

No, as for any suggestion just wait. And if you want you may ask for a status 1 month after the last suggestion was made.

It just means that on the give date something has changed in or for that category. It has totaly no relation with reviews of suggestions.
