If, however, you have not suggested your site since December 2006, feel free to do so again without penalty.

We did lose a significant portion of the sites awaiting review during our server crash and the subsequent discovery that functional backup was an oxymoron.

Little faith

I have posted my new site to Dmoz about 7 weeks ago and checked reguarly and I am not there but I expected this as I tried to list my last site with them over 2 years ago and that is not the either. For the new site I'm afraid to re-apply incase I get penalised.

I'm not surprised to see that there is no complaints area, they'd need a few editors to sort that out.

I dont understand it, my site is clean code, useful to my users and its even validated.

I have no faith and will give up checking.

Its a poor service, unclear and seems threatening, everything has to be perfect and even then you probably wont get in, how do I know that some editor has a vested interest in the catorgory he edits and just ignores any that will compete with his site? I dont and niether does Dmoz, thought about applying to become an editor for my catagory just to get in so I positive others have thought the same.

I'll give up with them, dont get me wrong I would like to be listed but it does not hapen and after following their advice to the letter I still cannot get in.

Whats going on? Its simple surely, I send in my link and you inspect the link the list it, simplicity, their is no reason not to accept my site but it its not accepted or on hold or something.

Frustrated.

I dont understand it,
First try to estimate the number of site suggestions we might get each week. Now think about the number of active volunteer editors (~6,000) and how much of their free time they might choose to donate to the project each week. Now if I told you that 5 minutes isn't an unreasonable estimate for the time it takes to review a suggestion and ensure the title and description comply with our editing guidelines, and that reviewing new sites isn't the only thing editors have to do to maintain the directory, perhaps you might begin to get somewhere...

The overwhelmingly most likely explanation for any observed inaction at the ODP, is simply that no-one has got around to looking at your suggestion yet.

Its a poor service,

Therein lies the problem: we are not providing a service to webmasters. The only service we provide is to the surfers who use our directory.

We are not now, nor have we ever been, a listing service. We accept site suggestions as a courtesy, but in doing so no way obligates us to review those suggestions in a given timeline.

everything has to be perfect
Perfection isn't expected; a good faith effort is. Editors give a lot of latitude to people suggesting their sites. We don't delete sites suggested to the wrong categories or with less-than-perfect titles or descriptions.
