How long does it typically take to get listed?

Not sure if I'm being unreasonable and would appreciate some direction... it's been over 2 months, should I assume my submission was rejected? If so, how can find out what I need to do to resolve any issues that resulted in such? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

On http://www.dmoz.org/guidelines/include.html you can read the guidelines about which sites we won't list.
If your site is one of those than it might be rejected.
If it is not a type of site we do not list than it must be still waiting review.
There is no typical time between suggestion and review. It can vary between a few days and several years.

Catmod,

I appreciate the quick response... I've read through the guidelines and don't see anything that would jeopardize my submission. Is it feasible for me to manage a category in which I have a vested interest? I'm open to submitting an application to be an editor for the Wastewater: Products and Services category but would the fact that I own multiple wastewater treatment facilities be a conflict of interest? Again, your response is appreciated...

There is nothing wrong with editing a category where you have affiliations (sites you own or are associated with), so long as you are up-front about those affiliations, and as an editor do not give them any prefferential treatment.

Feel free to submit an editor application as we are always looking for new editors. Just be sure to give a complete and upfront answer to the section of the application where it asks for sites you are associated with.

I'm open to submitting an application to be an editor for the Wastewater: Products and Services category

If you are talking about http://www.dmoz.org/Science/Environment/Water_Resources/Wastewater/Products_and_Services/ then I would suggest picking a smaller category to begin with, possibly a Wastewater subcategory. The main Wastewater category is too large for a new editor.

My application was rejected... i would think as overwhelmed as you all are you'd be more receptive to applicants. Funny thing is, by day I manage network performance (specifically net flow) for the largest air line in the world. I get paid for that yet I can't give my services to DMOZ? Any advice would be greatly appreciated...

Did the application include any specific comments? Unless you were specifically told not to apply again, you are welcome to submit another application. Make sure you understand the scope of the category and the types of sites that should be listed there. It's also helpful if you review the Editor Guidelines which will help you write suitable titles and descriptions for the example sites you submit with the application.

Within Regional, we list most websites in their localities, not at state level. To be listed at state level, it would need to have premises in several locations. Not to worry, some editor will move it to the correct category in due course.

Many websites are discovered and listed years before they've been suggested by their owners - negative response times :).

[background=rgb(246, 246, 246)]I have noticed that new web pages don't get a page rank right away, it actually takes quite a while. I checked on a couple sites including my blog, and it looks like it takes about two months to get a page rank assigned to your page.[/background]
