How long should we wait between submission? Or should I just start by asking if we can make more than one submission to Dmoz?

An editor visited my site two weeks ago, which is totally an information site (www.financialintermediation.net) but once I saw it wasn't added, I submitted again to a more suitable directory (Top: Science: Social Sciences: Economics: Financial Economics).

Any answer will be appreciated. Thanks.

If you have suggested your site, there should normally be no need to resuggest it again. If you have suggested it and are not yet listed, the only reason for resuggesting it might be if you added a lot more content or changed the emphasis of the site.

Resuggesting to multiple categories is against the guidelines.

Just because an editor visits it, does not mean that they reviewed it - they may have moved it to a more suitable category.

Our motto is "Suggest and forget", eventually the site will be reviewed and your time can be better taken uo by promoting your site in other ways.

Submission status for http://www.felitsia.gr

Hi there,

I am really eager to find out if there is an editor at the following dmoz directory :
Top: Regional: Europe: Greece: Prefectures: Magnesia: Pelion: Travel and Tourism: Lodging

I am asking this because I have suggested my url and I have seen no reply by anyone. How long should it take ???

I hope someone will help out on this one. My site has been earlier in the dmoz directory but is there any case it has been removed. Is it every 3 months dmoz removes old listings or how does it work ???

Thank you very much in advance,
Mantikas George

It depends on which help you are looking for.
We won't answer questions about indivual sites.

Listings are only removed if:
- the site is not available anymore
- the site does not meet the guidelines anymore (either the site or the guidelines may have changed)

All work on the ODP, ALL work, is absolutely asynchronous.

That means, it happens when someone volunteers to do it.

There's no rule that says a webmaster must suggest his site in the second week after it was first published, or never suggest it! And there's no rule that says you must suggest a site within two weeks of the time the category was last edited. Every webmaster is free to suggest his site on his own schedule. And every surfer is free to suggest any sites, on HIS own schedule.

In fact, the same timing rules apply to every other volunteer. All the volunteers work on what they think is important, at times that are convenient for them. That includes re-reviewing and removing old listings, reviewing unlisted sites, or other activities that don't directly affect specific listings.

No deadlines, no priorities, no assignments, no status reports.

Just people working on what they think is important.

Which means, there isn't a status report. There won't be any "responses" or "progress reports" or anything like that.

If it mattered to the directory (which it generally doesn't) an editor can see the history of what editing actions have been taken for a particular site. But there's nothing an honest webmaster could do with that information, which is one of the many reasons we don't discuss that in this forum.

enjoy the journey

I have been waiting for 5 years:)
My advice to you is to market your website without relying on the ODP,
and enjoy the journey.
