hello, in how many maximum categories i can submit site in Dmoz. I have seen some of the sites are listed in more than 8 categories. Is there any restriction?

You should suggest your site once to the single best category it would fit into. If it needs to be listed in more than one category (some sites qualify for both Regional and Topical categories) the editors will make that determination and forward copies along to the appropriate category. If the site in question offers versions translated (not poor machine translation though please) into other languages you can suggest the root url to the corresponding World/ category for the languages it is translated into.

He is right you know. It's better to submit to just one category. It is also better for Google rankings because spamming could get you banned. Even off of Google.
One means you are not a spammer.
Always listen to the wise editors.
