I have an Immigration and Recruiting business. The web site / business deals with immigration for USA, Canada, Australia and will be adding UK. The other part of the business / web site deals with Staffing / Recruiting for the same countries. The web site is;

http://www.irisfirm.com/

Can it be added to more than one category and if so how many. Because according to the business / web site model, it can go to any of these categories;

http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/Canada/Business_and_Economy/Legal_Services/Immigration/ (Canada Immigration)

http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/Canada/Business_and_Economy/Employment/Staffing_Services/ (Canada Employment)

same for USA, Australia and UK.

Your comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks

The ODP allows for two options for listing your business, since you have an office in Vancouver, BC and another in Beaverton, OR, and it's going to be editor's choice which one.

The first is to have one listing in Regional/North_America/Business_and_Economy/Legal_Services

the other is to have two listings in categories:
Regional/North_America/Canada/British_Columbia/Localities/V/Vancouver/Business_and_Economy/Legal_Services/
and
Regional/North_America/United_States/Oregon/Localities/B/Beaverton/Business_and_Economy/

I do not believe that you will get a listing approved in the categories you name, the reasoning being that since you have a "brick-and-mortar" location, the business will get listed according to that, rather than according to services offered.

Thanks.

Much as I would like to agree with Alucard, I believe he may be incorrect in this case. Without checking the content of the site, Canadian Immigration may be considered more of a "topical" than a "Regional" category, even though it falls under the "Regional" heirarchy. However, my opinion shouldn't be considered definative, as I don't edit in those areas. On the third hand, you almost certainly would not be listed in Canadian Immigration, US Immigration, and Australian Immigration, but in some more general Immigration category elsewhere in the ODP. Similarly for staffing services.

I am not sure what happened to my earlier reply. It was there earlier and now disappeared? :confused:

In any case, as I mentioned in my previous reply to Alucard, I appologize for the multiple submits. They were due to lack of knowledge on my part. When I didn't see any editor at the bottom of the category and after waiting for many months, I resubmitted the site. However, now after discovering this forum, I am more knowledgable about the directory.

Can someone help me get my web site back in the directory or guide me to get it included? I do not want to start submitting the site again without a go ahead from someone. Otherwise, I will be repeating my previous mistakes.

Thanks

You do not need to resubmit your site again. You are currently awaiting editorial review in http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/Business_and_Economy/Legal_Services

The site will be reviewed when a volunteer editor gets to it. This wait time can range anywhere from 2 hours to 2 years or more. The best thing you can do at this point is patiently wait. There is nothing you can do at this point to facilitate this review process. It is the same for all submitted sites. Hope this clarifies.
