How to check for successful submission?

I understand that there are no status checks available for a submission, and that's no problem. However, is there any way to check whether I successfully submitted a site?

When you suggest a website a confirmation is presented on screen.
It will either tell you the suggestion was succesfull or tel you about an error that occured.

Thanks so much for the reply! I was thinking that would have been the case, but I didn't think to take a screenshot or have any other sort of record at the time. It's been over a month, and I don't recall what kind of message I received. If I may make a suggestion, it would be nice to have somewhere a person could just verify that a submission was successful.

At this point I don't know whether my submission was successful, or not so I don't know if I should re-submit. I know I shouldn't re-submit if it was successful, but if it wasn't I have no way of knowing and I could just end up waiting two years (as I've seen referenced in these forums). Seems there should be a better way.

The error messages on suggestion are rare and very clear.
there is no real need for a new suggestion
but if you suggest the website one more time to the same category no harm will be done

even if the suggestion is succesfull it might happen that nothing will happen with it for several years
editors are than busy in other parts of the directory

Good to know that the error message is clear and rare. I will assume that my submission was successful.

Will I be notified if my suggestion is rejected?

No you will not get a message when the suggestion is processed.
Not when it is listed (although you can see that yourself by looking at the directory)
Not when it is rejected (you can already know if it will be rejected as the reasons are clearly presented while suggesting the website)

Not a great system from a user perspective, but I understand and appreciate that moderation is an unpaid and time consuming job.

It all depends on who you think the "users" are.
I guess you think the people who suggest websites are the user. But they are not. They are suppliers. See them as providers of advertising brochures you receive in your mailbox at home. Do you send them a reply that you read their brochure. Ofcourse not.
The users of DMOZ are the people who search for information.
