Is their anyway to determine if their is a current editor for your category of interest in place? I haven't seen any changes to the Dallas Texas Real Estate Directory in over a year. I've submitted my site once approximately 1 year ago and again here recently when DMOZ was up and running again.

If their is not an editor in place, I would be more than happy to assist. #1 complaint I here from different business owners in Dallas as well as different DMOZ editors in Texas is there is not enough editors in place to handle inquiries. I would submit app for editor consideration but of course service is temporarily down, which seems to be the underlying problem for both site inclusion and category editor shortage.

While there are always editors who can edit in any category, there is never a way to tell if there is an editor who will edit in a particular category within a given time frame. (How is that for a convoluted sentence! :D)

Many parts of the directory would benefit from having more active editors around, though, so if you know several sites that you think should be included, and if you would enjoy editing in the ODP, you're more than welcome to apply once the functionality is back. (I wish I knew when that will happen, but I don't, unfortunately.)

Meanwhile, you may want to familiarise yourself with the guidelines for RE categories -- which are considerably more strict than some of the other guidelines :)

If there is a current resident editor for a category, it will name the editor/editors at the bottom of the page. If there is no editor it will say, "Volunteer to edit this category."

That doesn't mean there are no editors editing in the category, as many of us are listed at a higher level and can/do edit in any category below us.

I have editing permissions at the US level, so that means I can edit in every locality within the 50 states.

Texas has 5 resident State level editors listed, and there are probably 200 + other editors who can edit there. :)

Dang! I gotta start using more fingers to type with, :).
