Hi,
How do I get details of editors in a particular category. How will I come to know whether there was an editor in the category at all?
I have searched in many categories in dmoz.org and was not able to find out any link for that.
I had submitted my site long back and would like to send a mail to the editor. The category that I had submitted is http://www.dmoz.org/Health/Child_Health/Growth_and_Development/
Thanks.

There are 200-300 editors who could edit that category, if and when they choose to. Editors don't usually respond to site owners, and we're encouraged not to because of past abuse of editors by submitters, including threats against them and their families.

I would recommend that you submit your suggestion one more time and then forget about it. Contacting an editor/editors will not get you preferential treatment, your suggestion will wait right along with everyone elses, and either be accepted or deleted on its own merits.

No site has a right to be listed, we list site suggestions at our sole discretion, if we find they will be useful to a web surfer. :)

But http://www.dmoz.org/add.html says that "If you are dissatisfied with the category in which your site is listed, you may send an e-mail to an editor for the category explaining your disagreement. Be polite and civil -- threatening or abusive behavior will not be tolerated.". I just wanted to ask how to find who the editor is after all!!!

If a site has been accepted for inclusion in the directory but you are dissatisfied with how the site is described or titled, you may go to the category where it is listed, and fill out the "update URL" form. If you are dissatisfied with the category in which your site is listed, you may send an e-mail to an editor for the category explaining your disagreement. Be polite and civil -- threatening or abusive behavior will not be tolerated.

The fastest way to get an editors attention is to fill out that "update URL form" because those stand out seperately for us, and get fairly quick attention.

If there is an editor in that particular category, they'll be listed at the bottom of the page, if not, there will be editors listed in higher categories that edit in everything below them. The chances are still slim that any of those editors will respond to you, so your best bet is the "update URL form". :)

That way many editors will see it, rather than just one or two that you try to contact, who may or may not have the time or inclination to investigate your request for a category change.

Thanks for the response. I just figured out from another category that category editors' pages are listed at the bottom of every page. In the category I asked for, it was "volunteer to edit this category" meaning that there were no editors.......

There might have been an editor there in the past who has now been given editing privileges in a higher category, but still edits there. Many of us go from being the resident editor of a small category to editing at a higher level and many, many smaller categories.

I now edit at the United States level, which means I can edit in every category within the United States, instead of just one small city, :) , so, I'm actually named once at the United States level, but I can edit in every city.
