The following category has no volunteer
Top: Shopping: Food: Ethnic and Regional: Kosher (44)
how should I proceed in order to request an update.

If you mean request an update to a specific URL, you use the "Update listing" link at the top of the page. An editor will review the update request eventually.

If you mean request that someone work on the category in general (i.e. to review new suggestions), you can't. An editor will work on the category when they decide it's of interest to them.

Just go to the category and use the update listing link. Some 200 odd editors have permissions to edit there and one of them will attend to it in due course.

jimnoble,

Our website, [url removed], was re-launched and incorporated in March 2006.

It's no longer a parodies site as when it was founded in 1998, and as dmoz.org lists it. The new [url removed] is a widely respecful site with contrarian economics and finance market view that has a track record of accurate predictions of trend changes based on macro trend analysis.

I think it's important for dmoz.org to keep most accurate and up-to-date info about a site, or it's meaningless to even list it. And so I've used the update listing link you mentioned and submitted a request yesterday for our site's description and category to be updated in your lsiting.

I wonder how long will it take for dmoz.org to show the updated version? And how can I check the status of it?

If we have a site listed in appropriately (whether in the wrong category or the wrong URL, etc) then its best for everyone when you point out our error. We want to correct any errors as quickly as we can. Update requests are normally a higher priority and do standout to editors working in the area, so they are usually processed more quickly than normal suggestions. However, there is still no way to predict how long it will take before an interested editor begins working on update requests in a given category.

Unfortunately as I said, there is no way to predict how long it will take for an update request to be processed and there is no guarantee that it will be listed as a result of the request. If the processing editor agrees with the update but doesn't have permissions in the new category it will be moved there for an editor that does to review it. These forums no longer provide status checks and there are no places that I am aware of that specifically do provide status checks. If the update request results in the site being relisted appropriately then obviously you will be able to locate it by searching the directory.
