How will it ever get better?

The Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) category is hopelessly out of date but it's apparently too 'wide ranging' for a new editor to be put in charge of. I'm happy to do it but not allowed. Will an existing editor take it over please?

This is a voluntary organisation and editors work where, when and as much as they wish within the scope of their permissions. A very small proportion of our editors visits here regularly and your plea is unlikely to be noticed :(.

We've found by (sometimes bitter) experience that categories of over around 100 listings don't make good training grounds for new editors, which is why the application form discourages requests for anything larger.

This isn't a catch 22 however. If you feel that strongly about it, and it's apparent that none of our existing editors does, here's what to do:

  • Choose a smaller category that interests you from the around 600,000 that we have. Your home town or a subcategory of it perhaps.
  • Become an editor for it and learn some of the skills required to do the job.
  • Once you can demonstrate that you've done that, request further permissions.
  • Repeat :)

It should only take a couple of such steps to achieve the NLP category that you really want.

Even if you are not an editor, if you care deeply about a category, you most certainly can help.

If you know of sites that belog in a category, feel free to suggest them. This is something that anyone can do.

If you spot bad links, changed content or problematic sites that are listed, you can call them to our attention by either doing a URl Update reuqest from the category iteslf, or by posting the appropriate information in this thread. if you do choose to post, please take a few minutes and observe how these notices are formatted.

We certainly welcome this type of help.
