Anything I can do to speed it up?

I tried to become a moderator (and openly stated in my application that I had a vested interest in a company in this category, but would be objective fro this and all sites I rated) but was, not surprisingly, declined.

What kind of turnaround is there in this category, I would assume it is pretty slow as the number of moderators can't be high - how many people have an just an interest in full service web design companies that begin with the letter A and no corporate interest!

I think this will always be an issue in the business categories unless another system is introduced.

If anyone has any suggestions, that could help speed up the process that would be great.

I assume that when you say "moderator" you mean "editor" <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />

The metas (editors that review applications) do not reject applications purely based on whether you have a business interest in the site or not. It has a lot more to do with many other factors which I will not go into here, but which are detailed in the "Become an Editor" forum, and many readmes on the DMOZ site.

No, there is no way you can speed the process up. You can't pay someone, and begging and pleading tends to get the opposite reaction. <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />

I'd encourage you to try to become an editor, if you have an interest in helping (and doing something more than just getting your own site listed) - good, imparital editors are always welcomed.

In regards to becoming an editor, you may want to refer to this section. There are many reasons for a denial, perhaps the category was too large for someone new, prone to spam, etc. If you are interested, I would suggest doing a little research and applying again. I did apply before, but was rejected. I thought this was to do with the fact that I had a vested interest in a site in this category, but as you say, this is not usually the case!

I read the readme's on the DMOZ site for becoming an editor and though I'd stayed well within the terms and conditions of becoming an editor. I'll take a look at the posts on the forum, as you suggest.

Should I apply again and will my email address or username be rejected if I've already applied using those details?

Thanks for your help on this, I'm a firm believer in all things open source and would like to help the Open Directory Project if I can.
