I believe that I submitted this site to at least one of the following categories. After waiting for a month or so on the first one, I thought that perhaps the site had been declined, so I submitted again. Then I learned from here about the backlogs. Also, I may have not submitted to the best category, I think the last one here would probably be best. I apologize that I can't remember the exact category(s) submitted to...

I have found two submissions:

a) to Shopping: Health: Beauty: Skin Care on June 12th,

b) to Shopping: Health: Alternative: Aromatherapy: Bodycare Products on August 12th.

Both haven't been reviewed yet. Both categories are backlogged (more than a hundred site suggestions each). But your submissions will eventually be considered. You may come back to this thread after one or two months to ask for a status update.

Will there be a problem with the multiple submissions, or will one simply be thrown out?

Would it be possible for me to help the backlog by becoming an editor in these categories, or are the categories fully staffed?

The editors will have a close look at your site. They'll decide which category fits best. Submitting to two categories is not such a bad problem, although finding the one most appropriate is of course better.

Both categories are too large to be given to new editor. But if you are interested, look around for a smaller one, with less than fifty listed sites. Some subcategories of Shopping: Health: Beauty: Skin Care are of this size. Or you choose a category of your home town or of your hobby. These are often easier to edit (and thus easier to get) for beginners.
