Hello,

I recently submitted our online literary magazine to the following ODP category:
http://dmoz.org/Arts/Online_Writing/E-zines/Mixed_Genre/C/

I also emailed the editors of its parent category to introduce myself and offer any other information about the site they might need. I hope this is a suitable submission, and appreciate any help you can provide. Thanks for your time.

There is only one site waiting for review in that category, and that might be yours. (I can't look into the unreviewed queue as I do not have editing privileges in that part of the directory.)

However I think the editor might move your submission to another category. See the submission guidelines for Arts/Online Wrting/E-zines and its subcategories:

"If your zine is a paper zine with a website, [...] it should be submitted to the appropriate sub-category within the Literature category."

So that would probably mean the appropiate place for your site is somewhere in the Arts/Literature/Magazines and E-zines area.

Thanks - that might in fact be a better category for it. The reason I submitted to the e-zines subcat was that it was the only one with a "mixed genre" classification, which describes our publication well. But I certainly wouldn't turn down a listing in the Magazines category <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />

I did get a copy of your feedback and it's on my to do list. I try to make my way back into e-zines on a periodically basis, but have been short of time lately, so it's getting a little backlogged--not nearly as much as other areas though.

If you do have a zine in print, then it does belong in the Literature cat. I'll try to take a look at that as soon as I can.

Thanks, I really appreciate it. We do have a print edition (though most our readers come in through the site), so it sounds like Magazines would be more appropriate. If there's anything I need to do to revise my submission at this point, just let me know. You guys are doing a great job, by the way - I'm glad I discovered these forums.

Greetings - just checking in again for any news about our submission (good or bad <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />) Since my last post I've also managed to get us listed at Go Guides and JoeAnt, and before that we had very good luck with Zeal. Hopefully the one and only DMOZ will be next!

Woohoo!!! <img src="/images/icons/grin.gif" alt="" /> That's wonderful - thanks for all your help. (I was looking for it via the search function, which I guess is why I wasn't finding it.)
