kctipon,

I am not sure what you are saying. Our careful records indicate clearly a submission. Unusual to me is the fact that a number of similar requests (for similar directory sites of other topics) have gone unlisted as well. It can not be coincidence that none of these are found. We are a internet marketing firm with a six year track record and a dmoz listing is not an issue that is taken lightly.

Can you please explain more clearly your post? And if what you are suggesting is that we never posted such request, can you please let me know how I can prevent our requests from disappearing in the future? Should we re-submit? Thank you.

>Our careful records indicate clearly a submission.
As do ours: multiple submissions, in fact: even, one might say, almost as many submissions as entries in the "directory." We call that "lowballing spam".

>It can not be coincidence that none of these are found.
It is no coincidence.

>We are a internet marketing firm.
That is abundantly clear.

>Unusual to me is the fact that a number of similar requests (for similar directory sites of other topics) have gone unlisted as well.
It is by no means unusual to editors. We delete dozens of such sites daily. We would probably call them "vanity-domain deeplinking spam" -- if they weren't so obviously "advertising banner spam."

>Can you please let me know how I can prevent our requests from disappearing in the future?
I do not think it will be possible. Internet marketers, like assassins, must clearly distinguish clients from victims. The ODP tends to represent the perspective of the victims.

>Should we re-submit?
No.

"Not found" means you're not currently in the queue for that category and "apparently not going to be listed" means your site was deemed to have insufficient unique content to warrant listing.

"Internet marketers, like assassins, must clearly distinguish clients from victims."

What is going on here? In all my years, I have never heard such accusations. For the record our directories including ChicagoMassageDirectory.com, ChicagoPersonalTrainerDirectory.com, and ChicagoYogaDirectory.com help local businesses get infront of prospects in a very cost effective manner and are filled with busineses that are extremely happy. In fact our renewal rate is 100% to this point and our success stories are nothing short of amazing. I could go on and on, but I won't, as I am a little too worked up (emotional)by how I was addressed on this public forum - SPAM, ASSASINS, Low-Balling. Wow! I have studied internet marketing for 7 years with a concentration on search engines and being one of the most successful internet marketing firms in Chicago with a careful mind and eye on permissable tactics, i am simply floored.

Instead, I invite you to visit our sites again, and if someone would please be so kind, as to set my mind at ease and explain to me how it is that this site, with very similar charecteristics (that we infact improved upon) made it into DMOZ? That answer would be very helpful to me as it appears to condradict what you are telling me.

So your clients are happy. They pay the bills, you serve their interests. The business model is not unusual, and it needs neither defense or criticism here.

But, as with assassins, every elated client corresponds to a disappointed victim -- unwanted promotional copy when they sought information, pages of advertisements masquerading as "incomplete but closed" directories where they looked for service providers, in short, "stones for bread."

The ODP doesn't list masons in the "Bakers" category.

If you provide advertising and promotional services to businesses, then you should submit your site (ONE site, not every page of a client list placed on a separate domain and submitted separately!) to a category that includes masons, um, advertising and marketing firms.

"Lowballing" (in the internet directory context) is the practice of creating lot of sites with the absolute minimum of content in order to garner lots of listings.

"Spam" -- repeated submittals that deliberately flout the directory guidelines in the interests of someone other than the surfers.
The point is not to destroy your reputation, but to allow you to rebuild it.

Hutcheson,

Now that was better.

I appreciate the constructive nature of your criticism in your most recent posts. It helps. That is exactly why I came here in the first place.

My apologies for not being super-clear. Not found = no listing waiting. Not likely to be listed = reviewed and found lacking enough original content while having (probably) too many advertisements and such.
