My traffic logs show that the editor from the caps and hats category (where my site was moved) has visited my site. I do not see my site in that category. Does it take a certain amount of time for the listings to be "live" in the directory, or should I assume that my listing has been rejected? Thank you.

I would assume that someone checking your submission status has visited you site.

Re: http://www.headcovers.com/

Thank you; you are so very prompt. I am still wondering if new listings are automatically "live," or if it takes a certain amount of time to show up in the directory. I am trying really hard to be patient. It is a scary thing for a business owner to drop off DMOZ after being listed for several years (due to a category change). I am stressing. Again, thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question. The editors in charge of this message board have been extremely helpful and polite.

Re: http://www.headcovers.com/

They are put on the public pages via a queue. This normally needs only some seconds to some mintutes. Due to the recent HDD crash the queue had been disabled for some days and thatfor was behind for some time. I dont know exactly, but yersterday I had the feeling that it is back to "as good as instantly" again.

[EDIT]

Some additions, not meant for your eyes only - more for the general public.

I can understand you very well, doing internet-business is a difficult thing. Please note, that the ODP never guaranteed listings, which was stated in the rules almost since the beginning. The weight, some search engines put on an ODP-listing is something we have no influence on and which was never intended by the founders of the ODP. So please dont blame us for googles technology ;-)

It may sound stupid, but there is a point that the forum guidelines say "We dont process your listings after you posted here" - it would not be manageable. We need a lot more time to process single entries than to process a whole category at one time. We might react on an "there is a mistake in that entry" request, but we wont review a site after someone posted here.

Re: http://www.headcovers.com/

Thank you for the information. Am I being penalized for posting here? I hope not. I'm hoping that you meant "no special treatment" for people who post here, and not that people who post would be penalized for using DMOZ resources. (?) Sorry it is late here in Texas - 1:20 am and my brain isn't fully functional after such a long day. I totally understand your policies on listings. It's just stressful when you have thousands of dollars of inventory, employees to pay, and you are worried that suddenly you may have no customers. All because I requested a category change 6 months ago and didn't realize that I was shooting myself in the foot.

No, of course you are not. Would be quite unfair ;-)
