As good as no backlog in this category, your site is still waiting for someone to review it.

You submittes less than a week ago. Please don't ask to soon/to often. Spending our time answering questions we edit less... In most branches normal processing times are at some weeks.

I don't edit there much, ec21. But did you notice that the description of the category says ...

For sites that have nationwide office & factory location that Manufactures (produces) all types of furniture related products.

Sites MUST have at least 2 operational places located both in different states or countries to merit a regional listing. Your company must be a manufacturer ONLY !

That seems to exclude your site that is a directory of furniture manufacturers, and catalog of furniture products.

Mmmm ... Anyway, I'll check that.

yup, i notice that the description of the category says. But i really dont agree with that notice. the description say "Your company must be a manufacturer ONLY !" this one i agree. but others like "For sites that have nationwide office & factory location that Manufactures" and "Sites MUST have at least 2 operational places located both in different states or countries to merit a regional listing." i really feel that not reasonable, why need 2 operation places then only can put here? is that means the furniture manufacturer that only have 1 operation place is not a furniture manufacturer? i very angry about that, i dont know dmoz how to come out the rules like this.

Before that i have submited few furniture sites(everhome.com, dynamic-home.com), but your editor put me to another category, all the site i submited are furniture manufacturers, but they put me under malaysia> state>town category, this is meaningless, because people look for malaysia furniture sure will come to malaysia furniture category. For foreigner, who know malaysia have how many state? my manufacturer under which town? if they know then directly come to my site already, why search in dmoz's malaysia furniture category?.

i very angry about that, i feel there have some of your malaysia editor abuse that category. for example like "eguide furniture directory", that one is not manufacturer, then why listed in furniture category? "Kinheng Furniture Malaysia" only have 1 operation place, why listed in furniture category? "Uchida MK Malaysia","Malaysia Emporium" also like this. and i find out all this sites are developed by e-guide (m) sdn bhd. Anyone can tell me what happen in dmoz's malaysia category?

If you feel there is any abuse going on in that category, please give specific examples to either the Malaysian editors or to the Metas, who will investigate it.

The '2 operational places' policy is common with all countries in dmoz, with the exception of the UK, which has its own listing guidelines. This is because we prefer to list the sites in their localities.

And remember, the vast majority of people find your results by way of search engines, such as Google. At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter where you are listed, just as long as you are listed in a suitable category. Though obviously we try to make sure you are listed in the most suitable category, otherwise there would be no point in having an ontology.

The category description Regional/Asia/Malaysia/Business_and_Economy/Industries/Manufacturing/Furniture/desc.html has been revised. Since the queue is small, I've cleared it and your site has been listed.

Regarding your question about "2 operational places" please refer to ODP Guidelines for Site Listing in Regional that specifies sites in country-level should be ...
  • Sites about the country as a whole.
  • Sites for entities based in the country, and that have an operational area that is national and/or international in scope.
  • Sites for entities whose operational area is generally limited to the entire country. Includes sites for entities that have several offices throughout the country, but may serve regional and local areas.
    [/list:u]

although my site http://www.mfb2b.com already listed in category:Regional/Asia/Malaysia/Business_and_Economy/Industries/Manufacturing/Furniture/, but when i do search in dmoz, the site still not appear. may i know why will make this happen?

The search database is only updated about once per week, but one time recently the update did not complete, even though the last updated date did change. Try again in a couple of weeks. In anycase, very few people ever use the dmoz site search. Editors use it to check things, as do a few submitters. If you are listed in a category, then you are now in the main database, and within a week or so you will be included in the search and you will also be included in the RDF dump which is the big file that other directories download from dmoz to update all their listings with.

The majority of data usage is on downstream users such as Google. Now they usually only come by and take an update from dmoz every month or so; however, there are some downstream users who only do an update once per year, and I have found one that hasn't updated since late 1999. All of this is totally out of our control.
