It's there at the bottom of the (massive) queue. This is not a popular area of the directory to work in so it will be quite a while before your site gets reviewed. Submitting the site several times to Computers/Software/Business will not have helped your case as it now looks like you're just submitting anywhere in order to jump the queue.

In any case, you should have submitted your real URL, http://fp.melfcomputing.plus.com/ .

I've just been through the category and removed a whole load of obvious duplicates (including 74 submissions from one guy that wants his entire site listed page by page). That's dropped the queue by 20% but it's still very large.

Thanks for the quick reply.

However our real URL is provided by our current ISP. If we change ISP then the real URL would change. www.msofficedevelopment.co.uk will always point to our real URL. When I first submitted the site a year ago we had a different ISP so if I had submitted the real URL as it was then it wouldn't exist now.

It's a shame this forum didn't exist when I first submitted a year ago as then I wouldn't have tried different categories. I did wait 3 weeks between each submission and I emailed the editors on occasion but heard nothing. I just didn't know what to do so in the absence of any other advice, tried a different category.

Is there anything I can do?

We don't allow what we call "vanity URLs" in the directory. We like to list the URL that the content is actually on as it helps us to spot duplicate listings. When your site is reviewed the editor will change the URL to the plus.com version and will leave a note tagged to both URLs describing the change. That way, if your site ever moves to another host, we can see from the notes that msofficedevelopment.co.uk will point us to the new version. Besides, surely you wouldn't move ISPs without leaving a forwarding notice?

Other than sit tight and wait, the only thing you can do is find someone willing to edit that category, and bully them into applying for it. It's a thankless task so you'd better be good at bullying.

I'd think the metas would need some bullying also - it's not an ideal starter category for a newbie .

Any road up, The site is additionally eligible for a listing in http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/England/London/Bromley/Beckenham/Business_and_Economy/. The last update there was only three weeks ago and the queue is empty, so it could have been listed by now. Dunno when the next update will be, but the local editors are pretty active.
