Hi editors,
Please let me know the status of http://www.mydreadlocks.com

Date of original submission: November 2003 (no status request made)
Date of last submission: February 25, 2005
Category: http://dmoz.org/Health/Beauty/Hair/Types/Dreadlocks/

Not to pitch (I guess that segway means that I'm about to) but the MyDreadlocks.com site provides information that's not yet available in this particular DMOZ category.

For example: It's the ONLY site that provides information from specialized hair professionals around the world. In addition, we truly cater to a multicultural audience.

Looking forward to your update so that I may either enjoy entry to DMOZ or make the necessary changes to be accepted later in order to provide DMOZ visitors with quality content on this particular topic.

Don't pitch ... here. The reviewing editor will "little note nor long remember what you say here." Make sure the pitch is clear and plain on your website, where editors and other surfers will see it.

We very seldom provide feedback of the form you envision. Basically we can't. We look for unique content, it's either there or not there. We don't know whether you HAVE content you haven't posted, or whether you could created it if you wanted, or even whether you can get a handle around our concept of "unique content." (I thought it was pretty simple...but I'm slowly figuring out how many different ways those two little words can be taken...)

I can tell you the submittal is there, making sure that an editor who wants to review dreadlocks sites won't overlook it. I can't (we never can) tell who that editor will be, or when that might happen.

Thank you for the update, hutcheson

Yes, the value proposition is on the home page.

While I was not asking for in depth feedback I would like to know what it would take to get listed in my particular category...other than patience. :p

As for the editor, I assumed nectarine who's the editor for...

...would review my site eventually as she's one level up from my category.

Thank you for taking the time to respond, hutcheson, I know editors can be busy folks. Am I to assume that I must now wait 6 months before asking for an update?

P.S. Is my 2003 submission also in the queue or only my 2005 one? Would the 2003 submission have a better chance of being reviewed earlier rather than later?

Yes to the six months.

No to the 2003 -- the later one usually overwrites the earlier one.

Conceivably, but most likely not, to the question of which would be reviewed earlier.

As to who the editor would be, don't assume. All you can tell is -- nectarine had done an edit within the last four months, at the moment the category was last updated. She (he? probably she...) might be long gone. (Editors can see a little bit more information, but don't talk about it. Confidentiality. I can tell you what I'LL edit -- you can relax, it doesn't include hair styling -- but it's not my right to tell who does anything else.)

I'll be back in six months. Since it'll be my birthday I'll look forward to a DMOZ gift ;)

Thanks again to you DMOZ editors!
