Re: Want to submit to "Online_Communities" category
It's been about a month, and I've eagerly waited to find out what the status of my submission is. I submitted my site to
/Computers/Internet/Cyberspace/Online_Communities/ a while ago.
Just for the editor's sake, let me explain what the site is. The site is a multicultural online community which I created (all with my own scripting, no 3rd party software was used). This puts the site at an advantage because a lot of the sites I saw in that category use software which is readily available on the net; it also means I can add and remove features the community might want. I created the site to compete with websites that cater only to certain cultures, which is a shame because nobody has yet to create one for my particular culture. I'm Canadian so I believe very much in multiculturalism, which is why I created this website.
The site itself provides users with several features. Users are allowed to create their own profiles which other members can search through and save friends. Members get personal webpages, guestbooks, journals, games to play, chatrooms to chat in, forums to discuss in, articles to read (nodes), daily horoscopes (provided by a horoscope website), private messaging (like internal email), polls to vote on, a "member of the week" feature, karma (to vote for other users), and several other features.
The site is always under development because users tend to submit feature requests a lot; don’t mistake this for the site not being ready for the online world. People who do not want to register, can log in as a guest (there is a button on the main page), and browse around the site. The guest feature is restricted, therefore a guest won’t be able to post in the forums, or edit a webpage like regular members can.
