Well, if there were enough golf related sites in Orange County(or one of it's localities), a subcategory would be created (Recreation_and_Sports/Golf), and then linked from http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/California/Recreation_and_Sports/Golf/By_County/
At the moment there are not sufficient sites to create the Golf sub category, and we don't link to R&S, rather than R&S/Golf
The sub category would also be required to hold links to a locality with a R&amp;S/Golf sub category, so submit all the golf sites in the County and it's Localities until we have enough sites to create the sub categories <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />

Nothing comes up when I do a search at dmoz.com.
Could that engine be down?

Search database is updated about once a week - be patient, it will come up in some time.

By the way, when you search, don't use www.orangecountygolfcourses.com as the search term, but orangecountygolfcourses.com should work once the search database has updated (roughly weekly). Of course we don't really worry about individual sites being returned in a search, better that the category is provided, and you look there.

Help me understand this better. At:
http://ch.dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/California/Recreation_and_Sports/Golf/By_County/
there is only one county listing - San Diego - with eight listings. Orange County (not listed) is bigger with more golf courses and directories than San Diego. It seems if you "create it-they will come". I would hazard to
guess that if most webmasters don't see a category, they will go to the next best thing, right?
Under the category below, I can drill down right to R&amp;S in Orange County but there's only two sites that are golf related and the third is a broken link:
http://ch.dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/California/Counties/Orange/Recreation_and_Sports/
How can we add "Orange County" to R&amp;S/Golf/By_County/?
Thanks again for your time,
Jessica

Now, simple: Someone has to create a Golf-category similar to the one that exists in San Diego. Since most of the editors have a lot of tasks to do, this would be something a new editor could perfectly do - he would have to apply suggesting the apropriate subcategory at the apropriate place (like it already exists for San Diego) and supply some initial links for his application - after being accepted he could add tons of other links to the new category to make it grow :)

Keep in mind that such a golf category would only contain golf sites that cover the entire (or large part of the) county, not individual golf courses (those would be in the localities). So it's likely there aren't too many other eligible links out there.

I'm thinking that this would be a more appropriate category than Sports/Golf/Directories. Can you move my request or should I do it?http://dmoz.org/Sports/Golf/Courses/Directories/North_America/United_States/California/

Quite right. The engineering corps has moved your site to that category where it is now waiting.
