About one month ago I suggested the site http://www.orangeskin.com to http://www.dmoz.org/Shopping/Home_and_Garden/Furniture/European/ . I was wondering what the status was of the site submission, and if possible, the number of sites that are currently waiting for review in this category.

I have been reading other threads and think I could submit my site to the regional category http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/Illinois/Localities/C/Chicago/Business_and_Economy/Shopping/Furniture/ without being penalized for submitting the site twice, just wanted to double-check before doing so.

It's waiting there for review with about a hundred other suggested sites.

If there is content on your website that would be of special interest to residents of Chicago, then yes, please do submit it to the proper locality (Chicago or suburb or whatever). That content could include information about a Chicago store (submit to Shopping), job opportunities at a Chicago warehouse (submit to Business&Economy), or perhaps even information about company-sponsored employee groups.

Wanted to check back about the status of www.orangeskin.com

I know the site is waiting with 100 others in the following category:

I also suggested it to a regional category a month ago and want to make sure it was submitted properly, and if possible find out how many other sites are waiting for review in that category.

The suggestion is waiting in the Regional category with a 16/Dec/2003 submission date.

We no longer give pool numbers, as it appears they raised (or lowered) unrealistic expectations.

The site has not yet been reviewed in either category. Sorry I can't give you better news.

that's why I'm posting my question(s) here instead of the "submissions" forum.

Since we first submitted the site we have decided to optimize for the word "Contemporary Furniture" instead of "European Furniture".

1. Would you suggest I wait until my site has been approved under the "European" category and then request that it is switched to "Contemporary"?

2. Are the two categories reviewed by different editors? I know that the "European" category has not had a site added since I submitted mine back in November and am wondering if I request the change to "Contemporary" if it may get it's approval sooner?

Ouch, you submitted it on around 11/15/03 and its now 1/3/04 and its still not been submitted? Didn't realize it takes so long to get that done....whoah. Need more people helping out I guess?

We are an all-volunteer workforce and experience shows that sites can get reviewed in as little as two hours, or more than two years.

I submitted www.orangeskin.com to http://www.dmoz.org/Shopping/Home_and_Garden/Furniture/European/ in November. I wanted to check and make sure it's still waiting for review, and see if you could tell me if it's moving up at all in the line. I have also been looking over the other site in the "European" and "Contemporary" shopping section and have found some that are no longer functional sites. thought I would let an editor know so they could be removed.

In case you did not know its' been listed in http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_Amer...cago/Business_and_Economy/Shopping/Furniture/ since January.

It awaits review in the other category, editors have removed extra submissions of pages within your sites to that categroy. You do not need to resubmit.

We no longer make estimates of positions in the "line:, since editors may review sites in any order they choose. Consider it as a great slushpile, into which the editor jumps. :)

Thanks, I knew of its listing in the regional category, but am hoping that getting it listed in the shopping category will help our SEO.

I haven't re-submitted the site to the shopping category since the first submission in November (I did submit to regional category after the recommendation by editor hutcheson) so if there have been any pages re-submitted to "shopping" I would be interested in knowing who is doing it. Is there any way you can get me that information?

I can't predict the future. I have no way of knowing which editor will review your site, since there are literally hundreds of editors who are capable of doing so. All I know is that an editor removed duplicates, but that's just housecleaning, and an editor who happens to do that does not mean that same editor will review.

Just as the editor who approved the sites in Regaional will almost certainly not be the one who reviews your site in Shopping.
