Do I stand a chance?


I suggested my URL (http://www.rubylane.com/shops/windsong)to the "Shopping:Varied Merchandise:W" category back in March of this year which is almost 6 months ago. At the time my site went by the name "WindSong Collectibles". I looked weekly hoping I would be included and I see the category being edited on a monthly basis, however, I have never been picked up by ODP. I recently changed the name of the site to "WindSong Cottage" because I felt the name was too long and I resubmitted it as such. Nothing else has changed. Is the name change and or resubmitting my site going to hinder my chances of being included? Also, I noted there is another Windsong Cottage under the Travel and Tourism category, is that going to be a problem for me?

I noted under the category I submitted to, there are a few sites that are included more than once under slightly different names. Is this allowed? Can we submit our sites more than once and just change the name a bit?

Hi Melissa,

Shopping/Varied_Merchandise is a very busy area, and the editors there have to deal with a lot of spam. Your change of names is not going to be held against you - and the fact that there are other sites with the same name will definitely not matter! However, each time you resubmit your site, the new submission overwrites the old one - it is unlikely to matter much but please don't submit again.

In order to check your status we need a clickable link to the category you submitted to. Thanks!

No, it is not allowed, and doing that constitutes spamming the directory. In those cases where you discover that a duplicate with a slightly different name has managed to get in, we'd be really grateful if you'd tell us about it; there is a thread here: http://resource-zone.com/forum/showthread.php?p=113226 for reporting such sites. We remove duplicate sites whever we find them, but sometimes it takes a while.

I have again merged your new thread with the existing one, please do not start any new threads for the same topic as it just makes more work for someone else. Sometimes threads accidentally get missed, if no one answers you can just bump the thread.

Submission Status

I just happened to check back tonight after 8 months to ask if my submission would be accepted only to find that you will be closing this forum topic tomorrow *sigh* . I have been a very good girl and waited patiently for the past eight months . I originally submitted this site in March of 2004, over a year ago. I am hoping I can find out the status of my submission.

Was there an error in the original submission that is keeping this site from being accepted? If so, can I fix it? Will it help to resubmit? Since this topic will be closing, can someone email me to let me know?
