I submitted my site for consideration back in May and again in late July. I never heard anything. Can I find out if my site is being considered for inclusion? My category is shopping: hair care: ethnic.

Thanks!

Site: http://www.treasuredlocks.com/
Cat: http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Health/Beauty/Hair_Care/Ethnic/

An editor with a few minutes to spare went through that cat a few weeks ago just deleting all of the duplicate submissions and spam, which didn't leave any time to review or add any others to the listings. Your site is therefore sat in the queue awaiting review with only a few others, around a dozen. Hopefully someone will drop by in the next few weeks and review all of those submissions.

Another duplicate submission was recently deleted from http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Health/Beauty/Hair_Care/ . I assume that your original submission is still waiting. Hopefully someone from that branch will answer in detail soon.

How many times have you submitted? There are two deleted submissions in the notes. The other was in http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Health/Beauty/Hair_Care/Ethnic/ some months ago. Repeated submissions in multiple categories can begin to look like spam. Repeated submission into the same category just keeps pushing your submission to the back of the queue, as many editors work on the oldest submissions first.

Re: http://www.treasuredlocks.com/

Thanks. I think I've submitted three times (in about four or five months). I didn't realize the process could take so long and with no feedback, it's difficult to know if your submission has been rejected, overlooked, submitted to the wrong category or what. It wasn't until I stumbled across that I realized it might take so long with absolutely no feedback. It would be nice to at least get an e-mail saying the submission was under review.

I certainly didn't intend to spam. I just wanted to make sure my site was being considered because I can't imagine a reason why it wouldn't be included.

Thanks for your help. I'll wait "patiently" now.

Re: http://www.treasuredlocks.com/

The site http://www.treasuredlocks.com/ is not in the unreviewed queue in http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Health/Beauty/Hair_Care/Ethnic or http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Health/Beauty/Hair_Care . The submissions were all deleted as "duplicate submissions", perhaps inadvertently. The dangers of submitting multiple times to multiple categories.

Is there a third category that you submitted the site to?

If not and you like to resubmit, please review the single best category for the site, and submit it only once.

Re: http://www.treasuredlocks.com/

Thanks for the update and the tip on submissions. I guess dmoz needs editors to reduce the backlogs. Unfortunately, I was turned down to be an editor.

I re-submitted. Now that I know there's somewhere to check if I'm in the queue, I won't submit again.

It's still there in the queue, waiting for someone to come along and give it the attention it deserves.

Is this still in the queue for inclusion? Any way of knowing about how long it might take?

Thanks!

Re: http://www.treasuredlocks.com/

It's still in the queue for review (around a dozen sites awaiting review now, down from around 20 half-an-hour ago: yep, I've been reviewing a few). It may be listed in the next 24 hours or so, but if it hasn't been listed within a month - feel free to come back here and ask again.

When it is listed, it will be listed under the "real URL" of http://store.yahoo.com/treasuredlocks/ and not the "vanity" URL of http://www.treasuredlocks.com as per our editor guidelines.

Could you give me an update as to the status of http://www.treasuredlocks.com ?

Hmmm... Is there any way to get the site reviewed? It's been sitting in the queue for quite a while.

Thanks,

Apparently this is an area of the directory where there isn't an editor very active. Care to apply? As long as you disclose affiliations and treat all sites equally, it is acceptable to edit in a category that you have a site.
