It's an internal code which means:

"I am looking through some older threads and this one never got answered. I don't have the editing priviledges to look into the submission status of this site, but somebody should, so I am replying to the thread so that it moves towards the top of the thread list where someone can see it."

A submission dated 04/Dec/2003 awaits review in that category.

Given the highly backlogged nature of this category, I would suggest that, if you wish to return for an update, you wait at least three months. In other words, after August 4th.

Please bookmark this thread, so that when you do return, you can reuse it.

Thanks.

Sorry, there's been no change in status: it's still awaiting review. If you don't see it listed sometime in the next six months, please feel free to return for a status update on or after 21 February.

February 21, 2005 is the date that you are next eligible for a status request. Status updates are now spaced 6 months apart in order for editors to spend more time editing and less time answering requests. It has nothing to do with when the site might be reviewed. No one knows the answer to that one.

It's still awaiting awaiting review in this extremely popular category. We can't predict when that might be. If it hasn't been listed in 6 months from today, please ask again in this same thread.

It is a great category for surfers with the urge to hire a webdesigner whose name begins with the letter W. Had there been a bricks and mortar address on the website, you could have additionally suggested it to your locality.

We'd need to ascertain which of the several domain names is the main one of course.

<added> Oh dear. This site seems to be a fraternal mirror of the already listed http://new-york-webdesign.com/ . A few of our tools are having the weekend off, but I should be able tie up all the loose ends in a day or so. In the meantime, you might like to reread http://dmoz.org/add.html and note the penalties which can be applied when this sort of situation arises :D </added>

<added> ...and then we have the interesting similarity between http://southforkweddings.com/ and http://northforkweddings.com/ </added>

The sites listed are not mirrors.

Mirrors imply that the sites are identical.

The sites you mentioned represent different geographies.

If you folks actually took the time to read the content, you would see that they are different.

Maintaining consistency in branding across respective business units should not be penalized.

Thanx for your warning; but it's not necessary since I didn't ask for it.

Another 6 months? Are you serious? I justed asked for the status which you provided and Thank you.

It confirmed DMOZ's lack of efficiency and effectiveness.

If what you say further down is correct, the sites are what we call "fraternal mirrors" -- and at most one is listable.

Forget the six months, that means the site is permanently rejected.

But you clearly need it - if you persist in submitting related sites (from the same stable in the same general topical area) then all your sites will be excluded, which means the one that is listed being removed. Up to you, your risk. Fraternal mirror doesn't mean an exact copy - please check your terms.

I'm glad you feel that way, perhaps you will forget us as a marketing medium for your sites - we are not a commercial listing service and we don't exist to serve your marketing interests. Since you already have a site listed there is no reason to ever submit another site to us, nor check the status of one.

Maintaining consistency in branding across respective business units should not be penalized.
One site, that is all we will accept from a submitter. How you organise the units within the business and your web marketing is your affair. How we treat businesses with multiple related sites is ours.

Thanks.

Added - "Forget the six months, that means the site is permanently rejected." - I might be wrong there - Jim will determine which of your domains will be listed, the others will be permanently rejected.

I never said that DMOZ existed to serve my firm's marketing needs. I conveyed a basic business concept that companies with different business units share similar branding materials. Perhaps you should read more carefully.

Again, you make no sense. I'm part of a Web Design firm which means I design Websites for clients. I along with others in my firm submit sites here and to other paid directories.

You're telling me not to submit sites here. Why? (Me thinks oneeye is sensitive.) Are you sensitive? Or perhaps you're just a sour puss.

Since you're sharing unwanted advice, here's some needed advice for you. Your tone comes off as extremely angry. I suggest you think about what you say on a public forum. You're a volunteer asked to review sites submitted to DMOZ, meaning you represent DMOZ and your conduct reflects DMOZ's public image (that's marketing by the way since you seem to know little about that subject... actually that's just common sense...).

Did you have a bad day? Did someone close to you give you some bad news? Reflect on why your reaction was so severe. I've been extremely patient (1 year) and I've been asked to resubmit by your fellow DMOZ editors.

I highly doubt that your reaction was what DMOZ considers proper.

Lighten up... life's too precious for such idiocy.
