I can't find the button to submit my site.

Yea, I know, this should be easy.
I’m really new at this so please bear with me.

I went to dmoz.org. and checked to see that my site was not already listed. It’s not.

There’s no Add URL button, only a Suggest URL. When I hit that, I get instructions on suggesting a site. I follow’m but when I get to step 4 it says to find the group you belong too.

So I find the group I felt I should be in “Business, Industrial Good and Services” but the buttons at the top only say Update URL. (Still no add URL).

I can’t update my URL because it says it is not listed in that category (duh).

Where’s the button to SUBMIT my site for a URL.

I’m I missing the obvious?

Chances are that the editors don't want submissions made to that broad category, and you should submit to one of the more specific subcategories. e.g. http://www.dmoz.org/Business/Industrial_Goods_and_Services/Factory_Automation/Human_Interfaces/

No, it's probably not that obvious, so don't be too concerned.

What this means is that suggesting sites to that category have been turned off, because it is considered too broad a category, and has, in the past become a dumping ground for people who couldn't be bothered to find the right category for their site (you obviously don't fit into that, since your'e tkaing the time to ask on here! )

Try to find a sub-category that best fits what your site represents. If your business has more than one focus, pick the primary one. If a reviewing editor really feels that the site belongs in the "upper" category they will list it there.

Others were faster with the same advice.

Business, Industrial Good and Services is probably way too far up in the hierarchy and therefore no submissions to this category are accepted. You'll have to find the most appropriate category for your site at the lowest possible level.

You'll find a 'Suggest URL' link in all categories where it is possible to submit sites, except for the main DMOZ page where it leads to the general instructions.

Maybe we're finally starting to get the hang of this.
