I feel that Domz is not creditable

I have now been waiting over a year for my listing? I run a clean website that does sell products but also offers allot of free resources for my industry which I have been submitted to the correct category. I am also a brick and mortar retailer since 2010. I see listings from editors here saying not to resubmit your site? What does someone like me do then? Obvisalsly the editor for my listing is not doing their job, or is controlled by a competitor. I see allot of sites in the category I am looking to get listed in that are out of date and spammy but I am not listed?

To see responses from editors here saying we are volunteers we will get to it when we get to it is Pure Arrogance. If you volunteer, THEN DO YOUR JOB. Hope Google realizes how unreliable Domz has become. Looking at the responses from editors here, you have become nothing but fake Idolatry…

It's not a job but a pastime. We owe you nothing and it's entirely unreasonable to lambast thousands of editors just because they haven't done what you want them to do.

There are several hundred million websites out there that we haven't yet looked at. Surely you aren't claiming that yours is one of the most important of those. And anyway, how would we know?

I have now been waiting over a year for my listing?
Exaggeration doesn't help your case. You first suggested it just over 6 months ago to two different categories in defiance of the T&C that you agreed each time. By that act, you've doubled the amount of editorial effort required to process it. You're bitching about slow response times but you are one of the causes of them.

I expect that you'll complain that the time spent responding to your complaint could have been better spent listing your and several other websites.

Well no.

Firstly, we try to educate those who have misunderstood our mission and quite a few other surfers will read this too as an example - and it'll be archives in the search engines of course.

Secondly, you've already taken up my time to explain things to you and investigate. There's no way I'm also going to volunteer to work in an unfamiliar to me part of the directory just so as to give you what you erroneously assume is your right.

I appreciate you taking the time to respond but I do not agree with your response jimnoble. If you are volunteering, then I feel you should do what you volunteered to do. I do understand posts here need to be responded to and I took a big risk saying what I feel needed to be said. I also know I will probably not get listed now, but I felt it needed to be said. Since I am a brick and mortar retailer and I am now competing with online retailers that are gaining ground, I need my listing approved. Responses saying we will get to it whenever is not acceptable in my mind. I know there may be a back log, but then add more editors? Sorry we do not see eye to eye on this. The fact Googles algorithms use Domz as a source it is important in our minds not yours.

Also, I read they if you are eligible for different categories you should submit to them also. I see some sites listed in many categories? Some so spammy in my mind should not be listed at all? This is where I feel that Domz is not creditable anymore. Thanks for your time and allowing me to voice my frustrations.

Best Regards, Ed

If you are volunteering, then I feel you should do what you volunteered to do.

We are doing exactly that. We volunteered to help build a directory. Sometimes that is done with the help of suggested sites and sometimes not. What we did not volunteer for is to list specific sites in the time frame demanded by a site owner.

I will probably not get listed now

Voicing an opinion here has nothing to do with whether your site will get listed. If it is listable, it will be reviewed and listed in time. If it is not, then it will not.

add more editors?

We add new editors every day.

if you are eligible for different categories you should submit to them also

Sometimes a suggested site will be eligible for a listing in the Regional section (based on physical location) and in a Topical area. Also, if a site provides human translations in different languages, it may be eligible for a listing in each of the language categories in World.

If you see sites listed that do not meet our basic guidelines, they can be reported in this thread. Keep in mind, however, that sites may be listed multiple times at the discretion of the editor, so multiple listings alone would not be a valid reason for reporting a site in the above quality control thread.

If you think the success of your business is dependent upon the actions or inactions of a bunch of anonymous volunteers, you should close it down now. Harsh? Ask your financial advisors.

Incidentally, I've spent a total of around 8 hours editing today so I'm on a break now.

Thanks RZ Mod for the professional response and thanks for understanding my frustration and trying to voice my opinion threw this thread.

Yes Harsh jimnoble, and I think your position as an editor here has made your ego bigger than it should be. I posted my original post after reading allot of your responses to people that are just looking to get their site listed and are frustrated like myself. You are not a nice guy and the power of approval I feel has gone to your head. You are mean to people. “We are just volunteers” “We will get to it when we feel like it” “Ask you financial advisers” Really? People like me with small businesses are trying everything they can. Times are tough and we need every resource available. You don’t seem to see that…

Just being honest…

Bwt us, my retail is well and pays the bills, I am just looking to keep up with my competition, which seem to have listings on Domz.

You seem very grumpy and don’t seem to like what you do. Do you enjoy what you do? Or do you enjoy power is gives you and allows you to talk to people the way you do?

We're clearly going to have to disagree about your misunderstanding of our mission and my explanations of it. Neither do we tolerate personal insults here.

Thread closed. Do not initiate a similar one when your one week cooling off ban expires.
