It is not possible to suggest sites to dmoztools. We are working on a solution with a new site, but it is not open yet.

Although I (and no doubt many other editors) feel that way, this could be a mild exaggeration

Where is this discussion? I am a former moderator and am very surprised that this discussion seems to be taking place behind closed doors - whereever. There might be people who have something to contribute to the discussion beyond those already contributing...

There are no closed doors, just follow the advice that have been given here, in the members forum.
If you were not active when dmoz closed you may need to wait for the possibility to be reinstated as an editor when the new site opens.

We seem to be miscommunicating. I cannot access the forum, login doesn't work, password recovery doesn't work, no replies to the contact form either. How can you say that the doors are not closed? If the fact that I was last active in February plays a role in those closed doors, that's "interesting", but providing an explanation why the doors are closed doesn't mean that they aren't.
And as for the need to wait until the new site opens: Are you serious? Just to recap: We are dealing with a site here that was so dull and utterly useless that not only human visitors ran away in masses, but the owner chose to simply trash it instead of looking for a buyer, because he deemed it wasn't even worth the effort. Don't you think it might be useful to get the utmost amount of input on how a useful and modern directory of sorts might look like? And don't you think that especially the moderators who were so frustrated by the old site that they just didn't hang out here every other day could be a great source to provide just that?

At this time there is no DMOZ to suggest a site to. They are gone. They are no more. Editors are currently working on setting up a new site with a new name. Check back on this forum for further details in future.
