If an editor rejects a site, does this prejudice future submissions

If an editor rejects a website for whatever reason, is this recorded by DMOZ, and will it count against the site for future re-submissions?

Is the rejection reason recorded for future editorial use?

Also, wouldn't it be possible to automatically email the submitter with the reason, as their email address is probably part of the submission form? It would just be a case of 2 button clicks, select the rejection reason and then send the email.

This would help cut down the number of duplicate submissions by people who believe that their submission has been rejected, but it is in fact sitting in a pool waiting for review.

The editing procedures are internal to editors. What the public who suggests sites need to know can be found in the publicly available Guidelines.

The question about automatic replies to suggesters has been answered here a zillion times, please search the forum.

An even more effective way would be for webmasters NOT to suggest mirror and redirecting URLs. As explained very clearly in the suggestion guidelines.

It seems that many people don't read the warning therein:
multiple submissions of the same or related sites may result in the exclusion and/or deletion of those and all affiliated sites. Disguising your submission and submitting the same URL more than once is not permitted.

Thanks for the comments.

If you have more than 1 site of a similar nature is it acceptable practice to submit one of the sites only, or does the fact that you have related sites preclude submission of any of them?

Thanks again, please could you clarify this guideline:

"Do not submit URLs that contain only the same or similar content as other sites you may have listed in the directory."

If you have no sites listed, but have sites of similar nature, submitting one site only is acceptable practice, but submitting 2 is against the guidelines.

I have 2 sites that I submitted which may have been considered duplicate content by DMOZ, although the content to each site is different, the subject matter is similar. One site is older than the other and was submitted before I realised that this would be a problem in terms of the DMOZ submission guidelines.

Is it possible for me to resubmit my main site to the same category as before, and have the others sites submission deleted? I have re-read through the submission guidelines, updated my website accordingly, and believe my site is now listable. I don't want to be viewed as a spammer who just keeps resubmitting sites.

I'd suggest resubmitting the site that you _don't_ want listed, with a description something like, "this site superseded by othersite.com, which has been suggested separately. Given a choice, I'd currently prefer the other one to be listed."

That gives the editor the information needed.
