As you know, in this forum many requests are that "is there any editor for this category"? and the answers are any editor can review the web and can add the web.

I think when the web suggested, the submitter should allow to online it in thread with the subject of his web url. With this all editors you know check the forum and threads then they will check that suggestion immediately.

Any suggestion.

How would that make anything better? The site suggestions are already there, waiting in the (hopefully) relevant category in the official place, that is, dmoz.org. Not to mention that editors find suggestions for sites to add all over the place (links from other sites, URLs printed in newspapers etc etc.) We really aren't at a loss for where to find site suggestions :)

Also, if site owners were encouraged to post their URLs in a public forum with the expectation that ODP editors would check the site suggestions quicker, it would create an impression that the editors are there to serve the site owners' interests, which would be very unfortunate in my opinion.

Incidentally, it is a misunderstanding that all editors can edit everywhere. About 200 editors have editing permissions in the entire directory; the rest of the editors can edit in the category or categories where they are named, and all direct subcategories of the categories where they are named.

There's a logistical issue too because we get thousands of listing suggestions every day. It really doesn't make any sense to try and funnel them all through a single forum.
