I've tried several times to submit to ODP but have never received confirmation, only "unable to verify URL" or something to that affect. The latest attempt was to >>>travel>>directories and guides. The editors name was "Yucatan", i think.

Also, i have a page on the nude and topless beaches of Cancun. Can anyone tell me how concerned i should be about that?

Please give us a clickable link to the category you submitted to (just copy it from your browser's URL box), and the exact text of any error message you got.

Well I'll guess that our spam filtering software caught your submission because it got triggered in some way. Many submission have this happen and it doesn't mean that you will be penalised. There are almost 20,000 sites in the spam bucket at the moment, so I'm not able to check and see if yours is there, but the likelihood is that it is safe, and will be moved out to the correct category in a day or so.

This is my first site and experience with se's and directories.

Sure dont want to spam. just want to make sure im on the right track.

The "spam bucket", is that like the "S--- Can"?
Your spam filters seem to be working GREAT, but, any "human" that checks will see that it's not spam (just ignorance of the system).
I spent last week submitting to every major se and directory and some NOT so major). It's very possible that i submitted more than once and into more that one cat.
It was what you might call ,"Shock and Awe" submissions. Hope that i didn"t screw up too badly.

Hey, we are doublechecking all submissions the spam filter filters out. But since we are only human, this leads to some additional delay. Remember that several 1000 submissions arrive at the ODP every single day.

Why are you confused? The directory is mainly based upon the work of thousands of volunteers. We are using tools, but all of them are only to support our work. Same with a Spam-filter: it devides submissions into "seems to be OK" and "seems to be spam" - last ones are quickechecked by experienced editors and filtered by hand, the rest is put back into the directories queues.

There's no indication that anything has happened to your site. This means that, assuming it went into our spam bucket, it's still in there. Don't worry, we have a team of dedicated editors that spend all of their time emptying the spam bucket every day. If your site's in there, it'll be found soon.

I submitted my site a month ago (when there was a problem with your servers). As it was my first experience with directories , i may have submitted more than once unknowningly. Anyway, I was told that my submission triggered your spam filter and I was in the Spam bucket. It definitly is NOT spam.

Please, what's my status?

AFAIK it's still in the spam bucket, waiting to be processed along with thousands of others. Once that has been done, it will be returned to the queue.

Sorry for the delay. You may wish to try submitting again to see if it works properly this time (ie it doesn't trip the spam filter).
