Hello Everybody,

Well, one of my site that was listed in dmoz has been removed (kinda) and I'm not sure why it has been removed. I don't see it in the category where it was listed but when I make a search, I still get my site in result and on clicking the link, I don't see the site on the category page.

The page was last edited on 15th July 2008 when my server was down and I guess the editor might have removed the site seeing it as down.

So, what should I do?

Also, I plan to start the site from scratch on same topic but with new design as the previous one was pretty old...so what should I do now? should I re-submit the site? Or what?

Please advise me on the same.

Thanks

I guess the editor might have removed the site seeing it as down.

If it was only down for one day, that may not be the case as it take multiple hits from the automated link ckecker before a non-responding site is moved back into the pool of sites requiring an editor's review.

Certainly a live editor might have noticed it was down.

Go ahead and resuggest it.

when you revampt the site, no action is required unless the changes impact hte unique content and render the title/descriptin invalid.

Thanks. Can you tell me how does the automated link checker works? I've also changed my host recently and after the deletion, I noticed that my current host support a lot of proxies. This could be a cause?

I still the site when I search for it on dmoz but the link doesn't show up on the actual category page. By re-suggest, you mean re-submit? Wouldn't this again take ages to get approved or there's some other way/procedure for submitting the deleted sites - I asked so this is the first time when I'm facing anything like this.

If a link checker decides that a website is faulty, it moves it out of the public directory into the pool of websites needing human evaluation. It's the same pool as that to which websites are suggested externally but the faulty sites show up prominently.

Most editors working in the area will look at those first.

Our search works from a database dump which is made approximately weekly. Its date is shown at the bottom of the search page. Changes made after that date don't show up in the search results. The true status can only be found by looking at the category page.
