In memoriam: brmehlman - Bruce R. Mehlman

We recently learned that long-time Open Directory meta editor and Resource-Zone super moderator brmehlman passed away on January 1, 2009. Bruce was a tireless and devoted worker both here and with the ODP, and he will be greatly missed.

I don't know what to say. He was one of the rocks among metas, quietly getting along with the job and dispensing even tempered wisdom when it was needed. We'll miss him and what he did for us.

It's a sad news indeed. Bruce was a great editor, one of the best meta and a wise man. What he did for this project is above the average and we'll all miss him a lot.
Astronomy was one of his passion, as we can see http://www.dmoz.org/Science/Astronomy/
Just a few hours before he dies, he send us New Year greetings in the internal forum:

"And, same time as the last post, Antarctica and the Iternational Space Station."

sounds like his words from the space.

One of the brightest stars has died away in the ODP Galaxy. But I believe that this light of star by name "brmehlman" will help us during long time.

Bruce was a very committed person. It's no easy to find a person like him who's always improving and working hard. He has been always available when the Spanish community needed him. He will be missed.
