Inactive niche categories - wrong submission?

Dear Mods and DMOZ staff,

I work for Marine Conservation Philippines, an environmental non-profit NGO in the Philippines, concerned with the state of coral reefs and other troubling marine issues.

Regrettably I do not remember when exactly I submitted the website of the organisation (<url removed - see guidelines>) to DMOZ the first time, but I believe it was around two and a half to three years ago. After many months (7 or 8 I think), I speculated the original category, being very small in number of entries and showing no activity, was without an editor, and so I resubmitted in another relevant category, with the same result.

There's a great number of categories, in which an environmental non-profit like ours fit in very well, so it is hard to pick THE best one, there's a least a dozen of very reasonable choices, like:

/Science/Environment/Biodiversity/Conservation/
/Science/Environment/Biodiversity/Organizations/
/Society/Issues/Environment/Conservation_and_Endangered_Species/Organizations/

To name just a few. As many of these, especially relevant regional ones are very small, I fear there is no editor, as there doesn't appear to be any activity. Can any of you kind people possibly remove the pending request we have, and recommend a relevant category I can resubmit in, in which you know there is an active editor?

Thanks for any help you may be able to render,
Best regards,
S. Knudsen, MCP

Hi,
The idea of suggesting a site once, ever is that the editor moves the suggestion to a better category, or lists it as necessary.
The suggestions are kept until an editor reviews them, but there is no schedule; editors edit where and when they want.
DMOZ doesn't remove suggestions on request, but tends to take multiple suggestions as spam.
We don't offer a site review service here, but at a glance Science/Environment/Organizations/Marine seems a good a place as any for site on that subject.
A solution to speed things up is to apply to be an editor yourself. Editors can list their own site(s) as long as they work in an unbiased manner, following the guidelines; if you can spare some time and would like to try an addictive hobby, by all means apply - otherwise it's just a question of patience...

Hi Elper,

Thanks very much for your kind suggestion! The category you mention does seems very appropriate, and it appears there is indeed an active editor there. I've however taken your advice to heart and have offered to edit

/Science/Biology/Ecology/Ecosystems/Marine/Research_Centers/

I have just sent in an application. I'll keep my fingers crossed - who knows I might get another hobby. My better half would at least be pleased it's a free hobby for once. :)

Thanks very much for you help and have a nice weekend.
Best regards,
S. Knudsen
