Inactive status?

I submitted my site for submission over 7 years ago. I pretty much gave up on being listed in ODP, so I have not made an effort to come into the forum for a number of years. It appeared every time I asked about site review, inclusion, it would make an editor mad and perhaps that was why my site was never listed. I don't know. I do know that Google, MSN and Bing has recognized my site in a top tier status for at least 6 years or in Bing's case, since the the SE inception. Do you think many members were listed as inactive because they stopped coming to the forum because of fear of making an editor mad?

I had a similar experience. I couldn't get any attention on my site, even though it's one of the more complete ones out there in my category. And I started seeing uber editor complaints about people making multiple requests, so I pretty much gave up, and this is my first post since receiving notice today that my account had gone inactive. Hello OD folks, we're still here. There's got to be a better way to get worthy sites listed and not be slapped away for spamming when that's not happening.

Editors are not easy to get mad. But it might seem to someone who is asking the same question as 100ths have asked before. Answering the same question over and over again might get us tired.

The answer I would give is that yes we ARE mad but we don't GET mad very easily.

ODP should have a system that shows the current status of a site (whether it's been rejected, approved, pending, etc). I think the way it is now is very inefficient especially when it's pretty simple to implement that kind of a change.

Please note that if you have received a notice saying that your account is inactive, this has nothing whatsoever to do with any site you may have suggested for listing in dmoz.org. Resource-zone.com is a separate site, not part of dmoz.org, and the only thing that the "inactive" notice means is that for one reason or another you haven't posted here at resource-zone.com for a while. Posting here will not speed up the review of your site at dmoz.org (and the forum rules for resource-zone.com do not allow the posting of URLs or discussion of specific sites.)

What would that actually achieve?

Accepted - Well you know that already as it is in the directory.
Rejected - If you didn't look at the guidelines before you suggested then what difference would a note telling you make?
Pending - Well this wouldn't make any difference as it wouldn't let you know for how long it would be pending.

Heh, I just received an "account deactivation" notice myself. But then, I haven't visited in nearly four years either after reporting a series of needed changes in a particular video game's category.

As for noticing any changes, I did see these done a several weeks after making that report.

Just post to reactivate like the email suggests though some inactives can't post here in the lounge so try http://www.resource-zone.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=52372 until and unless the moderators think of something different. (Hopefully, problem solved). :)
